Body types? What the heck is an ectomorph?

I am not sure how these body types came about nor how anyone classified themselves as one or another, but do they even have any bearing on how fast one gains muscle/loses weight??

    People think it matters because the industry tells them they should buy products to help them optimize their goals. It seems to be human nature to want to complicate things as much as possible while looking for a magic pill.
