I am not sure how these body types came about nor how anyone classified themselves as one or another, but do they even have any bearing on how fast one gains muscle/loses weight??

They came about through a psychologist who described body types based on how he felt looking at them. They were then hijacked by the diet and fitness industry. They are useless and irrelevant.8

People think it matters because the industry tells them they should buy products to help them optimize their goals. It seems to be human nature to want to complicate things as much as possible while looking for a magic pill.3
