Hello! I’m looking to start a low carb diet ASAP. Does anyone have any pointers on whether Atkins, Keto, or Slow Carb is most effective? Can you share personal experiences as well?
Also, I’d LOVE to have someone to talk to on a similar journey, I feel it makes it not such a lonely, stressful journey to make!
Thanks in advance!!

there is a low carb group on this site, very helpful. I dont do keto but I eat 100 carbs or less a day and it really helped me lose my weight.0

Any diet can be effective if you stay in a calorie deficit. Which diet works for you will depend on what you enjoy eating and can stick with over the long term.
As a type 2 diabetic I have had good success (125 lb weight loss and normal a1c) eating a lowish but not low carb diet, of mostly slow carbs, about 150g net per day, with my carb intake timed to my exercise.7 -
It really depends on what you like to eat. I have lost weight on Atkins and a lower carb calorie counting diet. I don't like fat, so Keto wasn't an option. I didn't find Atkins sustainable long term as I like fruit and grain too much to give up permanently. Find a way of eating you can sustain over several years. Losing weight is easy, keeping it off is much harder.

Low carb is often seen as more "effective" than some other methods of weight loss because there is a whoosh of water weight loss in the beginning. Water weight and fat loss aren't the same thing. ALL fat loss is going to be because of a calorie deficit. Find something sustainable over the long haul.8
