Over 55 and struggling with weight loss! I weigh 175lbs and can’t seem to get down to 150 like I used to. Joints hurt because of it and I know if I don’t get it off now .....well. Hoping this community support helps.

I am going to send you a friend request. When I hit 47, bad things started to happen. I put on 5 pounds a year. Went from 38 waiste pants to 42, looking at bigger yet soon. Knee surgery. Back surgury in the future. Sleep apnea. All just to mention a few. Yo-yo diet. At 53 I was ready to just give in. I was going to say nuts, eat what and when I want, drink sodas all day long and if I can't enjoy life as I did when I was younger, I would at least enjoy tv and food. That was probably depression. The last week of November I made the decision to go all out and change my life. Dec. 1 I rejoined a very nice gym, hired a highly recommended trainer and said this is my last chance. I have worked very hard since. My diet is based on workout / nutritional needs monitored by counting calories and macros. I do this every day. I do a lot of cardio and strength training. I do it all in the gym this time of year but am looking forward to the biking and kayaking season. I suggest you look for and add friends here that seem to be of the same mindset as you. I have found that since using MFP daily to log food and exercise as well as read up on my friends, like their posts, make comments and enjoy them doing the same for me, I have become more motivated and consistent in everything I do related to fitness.

:) You are not alone! Im 55, and I’ve been about 20-30 lbs overweight since my 40’s. It’s so difficult to stay on track, but I’m hoping MFP will help. I would love to friend you so we can keep each other accountable & offer support when we slip
