Greetings!
My name is Ed Ruscher and Im just joining the FP community. I the former director of strength and conditioning for the Univ. of Louisville.

I will post from time to time I’m the exercise forum and some in the nutrition forum.

I still train 5 days a week at 57 and wear the same size clothing I wore as a young college football player.

I have learned some lessons on how to train a body as it ages and changes. Heavy powerlifting is in my rear view mirror, as are some of the nutritional practices I got away with in my youth. One has to evolve your training as you shift gears in the phases of your life.

Looking forward to interacting with you all in the future and hearing from like minded folks who believe every workout is a bank deposit to longer life, quality life, and faster recovery when you need it.

God Bless

Ed

    Welcome Ed.
As a former athlete I find one of the hardest things is realizing you aren't that young athlete anymore and you can't quite do the same things you could have. Or you can but it takes a little bit longer to get limber. For instance I would never warm up before I'd go in to skate, I still don't but it takes me a couple of minutes to get loosened up when I'm on the ice.

I do agree that fitness is the fountain of youth. I'm often told I look 10 years younger than I am and I attribute that to staying fit. Monday's I curl (the sport) with many who are over 80! You'd never guess it as they crouch down in the hack and hit these amazing shots.
