Rice

Right, is there a difference in calories between 100g of uncooked rice and 100g of cooked rice?

The same if it's boiled, just weighs more because of the water absorbed.

As long as you don't fry it....then there are loads more.

    I think you misunderstood.

100g of cooked rice will ultimately be less calorie wise because of the water absorbed. All nutritional label weights are "AS IS" so if a serving size of uncooked beans, rice, chicken, whatever says 100g.. it's 100g uncooked.

Yes, a huge difference because water has weight but no calories. You will get more accurate results if you weigh the rice before cooking it.

    for argument sakes:

    50g dry rice =200 cals

    50g rice +100g water = 200 cals.

You weigh it dry because you have no idea how much water is absorbed. It does lose calories because of the starch but a negligible amount.
  • Thanks guys. I got a but confused reading the guidelines etc on the pack and all the numbers they were flinging around :-D. At least I have eaten less calories :-).
