A little encouragement

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd add a little encouraging post this morning.
I don't weight myself everyday like MFP recommends, because I know that if I do I'll become obsessed with the scale. Today was my weigh in day and I was shocked when I stepped on the scale to see that I'd "gained" 5.5 lbs. I started feeling really discouraged and then remembered that I want to tailor my fitness not to what the scale says but to my measurements. So (after not having measured myself in two weeks), I took my tape measure and measured myself, only to find that I'd lost 1 inch in my waist, half an inch on my hips, and half an inch off my legs :)

That being said, I'm sure this drastic weight gain is because of water weight. I haven't drank near as much water these last few days as I should have.

Remember, everyone: your battle doesn't have to be with the scale. Go by how your measurements are and how your clothes fit.

Totally needed this today. It's my weigh-in morning (I do it weekly) and I'm the exact same as last week. Same story; haven't had enough water lately and had too much sodium over the weekend. Also decided not to take my high blood pressure water pill, which I'm sure didn't help the scale. The scale sucks and doesn't matter. Thanks for your encouraging post!

I weighed this morning as my starting weight. I won't be weighing daily either. My weigh fluctuates too much to rely on that as an accurate measure of progress. I will take some measurements today, I honestly didn't think about that even though I know that's a more encouraging way to track progress.
