Howto keep pre-made oatmeal from drying out?

I make a big batch of oatmeal (steel-cut quaker oats) all at once for the entire week and store it in my fridge to be eaten throughout the week. I cook it up with a nice mixture of oats and milk into a porridge, but once I store it overnight in the fridge it all dries out. I have tried different containers but I can't figure it out. Does anyone have a secret? I don't have time each morning to cook the oatmeal, so I need a way to cook them ahead of time but keep the consistency.

Is it that the top layer is dried/crusty but underneath is fine or is that the whole serving gets thicker/pastier as the week progresses?0

Airtight container in fridge. When you reheat it, you also need to rehydrate it with a little more milk.0

Right, it doesn't get completely dried out and crusty, it gets very thick and pasty. You scoop it up with a spoon but then you have to shake it off your spoon, and it sits in the bowl as a big round glob instead of being like a thick soup.
Mslmesq, I tried it in a Tupperware container last night after taking it off the stove extra soupy last night, but this morning it was dry again. I have been pouring milk in it each morning to soften it up but was hoping there was a way to keep it's consistency without adding the milk each morning.0
