New to Keto

Hello,

My name is Cayla. I am 27 years with 2 kids. Back in May 2019, I switched from working full time to staying home full time with the kids, and gained 25lbs. I am a boredom eater, who went from 10k steps 5 days out of the week to a mainly sedentary lifestyle.

5 days ago I started easing into the keto diet. I cut out my beverage of choice, Pepsi, cold turkey and started tracking my intake on MyFitnessPal. I have had success in the past with MFP with just tracking calories. I admit I became obsessed, and then per usual got lazy and stopped during holidays.

Currently I have a full sensation, but out of habit and cravings want to still keep eating. Is this normal? My diary is public and would love any feedback!

Do you know how many calories you're eating? It's possible you're not eating enough, or aren't eating foods that are satiating to you. Maybe experiment with your diet to see if there are other foods that fit your macros that you find more satisfying.

Wishing you best of luck :)

If you've started increasing your sugar or carb intake then your cravings will come back. Get back to the basics of keto and you should be fine

I think from my own experience I too have that desire. It is not hunger. It is to me this tastes good so I want more. It is like a bad habit. I had to find other things to do to busy myself so I don’t think of food a lot. And a lot of behavior modification basically.

What I am not understanding on the app is my macros. So today has been rough already, I have had too many carbs for my goal. I want to "fix" this by eating more fat based products when I feel hungry. My grams for protein and fat are at the same, but percentage is fat 65% protein 25%. I guess I am not understanding the science on how this works. I also do not want to eat too much protein.

I think its possible I am very flustered, foggy.

You don't really have to worry about eating too much protein for keto, just keep the carbs down.

But to answer your question, carbs and protein both have 4 cals per gram, whereas fat has 9 cals per gram.

So if you have 100 g of fat, that's 900 cals, and 100 g of protein is only 400 cals. The percentage is of total cals.
