Today I am starting my weight loss journey over. I need all the motivation and encouragement I can get. My mom passed away on January 4 of this year and I have been comfort eating since then. I stepped on the scale this morning and decided enough was enough. Please help

I'm very sorry for your loss. Give yourself the proper time to grieve. It's a very individualized process.

Tell yourself that comfort eating does not solve the problem. Keep your plan simple. Find out the correct amount of calories per day (or week) that you need and eat the food you like. Try to stay active if possible.

This. Comfort food is a single meal that you eat on rare occasions otherwise it ends in discomfort.

Relying on motivation and willpower is how I have always failed. It didn't occur to me to put a plan together that worked on unmotivated days. Instead I just kept seeking ways to bolster my willingness to stay with a plan harder than it needed to be.
