It's a way of eating. What's the debate? 🤷🏼♀️1

Indeed. There were times when people ate once a day out of necessity. Now people who have plenty of access to food, and time to prepare it, give it a fancy name and talk about it like a great new discovery.2

Yep, what's the debate? IMO, any strategy that helps one achieve goals WITHOUT restricting needed nutritional values for one's personal body, is fine.

1) A person needs to make sure they can get all the calories they need in a single meal
2) A person needs to make sure they can get all the nutrition they need in a single meal
3) A person needs to make sure they have the energy they need during the long span of time between eating
4) This needs to make adherence easier not more miserable
5) This needs to be something that does not greatly interfere with a person's family, professional, and social life
Anyone want to debate one of those?

Based on the purely anecdotal posts I've seen from people here asking advice on hitting those goals, it seems like this is something that is challenging for a not-insubstantial amount of people. So if it works for someone, I would say "Great." But I think for many people trying it, an open mind to the possibility that it may not be the best way of eating for them personally is important. I think it would cause problems if someone has fallen for some YouTube advocate's line about how OMAD is the only way to go and feels like they have to make it work, no matter what.6
