What did the older generations do before you could grab a jar of pickles at the store? Before Disposable things? Before bakeries full of things? Before heaters to air conditioning? Before Tylenol to Kleenex? Here’s where you post what was done. Give advice to the younger than your generations on recipes to how you exercised before gyms were in every town. Have fun guys be nice. Facts are facts / jokes are jokes/ memes are memes lol/ guesses are guesses take a deep breath if the past shocks you search google see that most actually took place come back read some more .

Best from History- That’s Safer to repeat

Jar of pickles - cucumber 🥒,salt ,water ,garlic to mint flavors you desire. Put in a glass jar submerge in boiling hot water. Get air bubbles out fully if lid to inside jar.Seal up good y tight be sure when done ✅.Pit in a cool darkest place you got .Will last months. If jars popped before you use it toss it. Popped jars a bad sign always when canning.Ive never had one pop but I got the air out used in time.

Cloth diapers y cloth wipes- bleach water y soap wash it then tossed on rope in the sunshine 🌞 or toss in a dryer or wring it out hang in the garage on a rope or tub.

No washing machines- tub,a rough bumpy board or concrete mold, soap bar usually,y wash off hang outside

They were placed in cages so that they can get fresh air. And they say millennials are lazy and dumb

I was diapered in cloth. Without a diaper service. My mum washed them herself.

Baby Cages Elenor Roosevelt fun invention she was born way before the Boomers in 1884 died in 1962. She was from the Lost Generation. After that was Silent Generation then the Boomers. The generation before the Lost Generation called the law in Mrs Roosevelt about her cage many times . Shows you history goes in a circle ⭕️. The generation before hers would agree with younger generations now that cages y kids don’t mix. Think that was the Boomers generations Grandparents.

Lol my Daughter was in cloth diapers 20years ago (my mother had me in her 40’s so I was behind my times lol used her advice - her mom had her in her late 30’s- who mother had her late in life also so our moms advice was outdated before we were born lol).

I asked Doctor about cloth diapers she said yeah folks still use them. I went into the ToysRUs couldn’t find any .Finally after multiple trips asked a young man (I was very pregnant by then) he took me to a section with stuff I didn’t recognize. No cloth diapers I repeated. He said these ARE cloth diapers. Looked nothing like what we folded washed they said use no bleach .I said well no bleach isn’t sanitary lol walked away . Daughter born 20yrs ago Son born 3yrs a go all the baby advice has changed to stuff. Lol 😂 shopped on eBay to find relics of the past to stock up my baby room.

I remember laundry services for cloth diapers.

Bone 🍖 🦴 Broth Soup 🥣 Recipe been around since the start of time itself ...still popular in many countries (for vegan to non vegan just change ingredients some )

    1. Any meat to bones to fatty parts you got after cutting meats to cook or can get from the deli just ask for them. Say bone broth soup deli workers many know what that is if they don’t they will now lol. Can also use leftover tofu to the scraps in the bottom of a vegan meat package for a more miso soup 🍜.
    2. Add any type of veggies to veggie scraps you got that edible or will be now that you would like in a soup. Cabbage even fine ! Potatoes 🥔! Can corn 🌽! Anything if if all you have is some potatoe skins left a sliver of onion top toss it in.
    3. Any noodles 🍝 to rice if you wish to bulk it up. Can add beans any too.

Boil on high them set to low at the end boil 20-30min or more if needed less if needed. Can cook together or separately some items toss together
Put in Tupperware eat off of it for days

A video with soup recipes in it for you guys needing ideas to pasta dishes from what you got on hand.

I found an old picture once my Grandma was so poor when she first got married at 16yrs old to her same age hubby that she tied a knot with short sleeves to keep them from blowing away lol. She looped the underwear through the line then tied it up with a simple bow undid it when all was dry. Lol 😂 most have looked interesting Grandpa sat out there shaving with a tiny mirror,a coffee mug full of soap lather,a razor 🪒 making sure the neighbors didn’t steal the Sunday Bests .

I would highly recommend looking into the Townsend's youtube channel. He's got some great series about how they lived post revolutionary war times.
