The Bicycle industry is booming...like wtf...this is Christmas level craziness right now.

That’s funny because I’ve never wanted a bike more than recently

Do it! join the pedal powered master-race. The ultimate form of transport, self reliant and independence.

A welcome break from socialising. I also think this will help bring down global pollution level and for a brief time create a welcome change for city birds and animals in particular.

Some of the NASA stuff about levels in China has been very interesting. I'm sure with all the shut downs taking place the overall impact will be much larger.

As for the Silver Lining part, I'm too lazy, so I'll just quote my post from another thread....

Since the beginning of March, folding@home participation has jumped several fold, and more people are joining daily.

In a nutshell, Folding@Home allows you to connect your computer and use some of the power it has to form a virtual "supercomputer". This system is used for complex protein modeling and folding simulations, which are vital for finding cures for a number of diseases. With the jump in participation due to COVID-19, it has been reported that at times there are no work units to process, meaning that so many people are helping that they can't throw problems at it fast enough.

Years ago it was something mostly done by the computer power user or "geeky" crowd that was into building power systems for gaming and such. I was involved years ago, then got away from it as things changed in my life and computers were a lesser priority. But I think I might set up our current system again, and maybe add another from old parts laying around. Many people with modern computers have plenty of power to help.

For a couple bucks of electricity and a little wear on your computer, you can help with complex models and speed finding cures. Folding@home has contributed to research with various cancers, Alzheimer's, Hep C, and Parkinson's. It's an easy way for us to contribute to the scientific community and help with research.

I did set up our current computer, and was glad to find that no work was to be had at first. But it finally did pick up a work unit, so my computer will be crunching away for the next 9 or so hours.

I had seen this before - sooo insightful in it's own way! You GOTTA find a way to smile / laugh. It doesn't mean you aren't respecting the situation. It is more a "boosting the morale" thing.

YAYYYYY!!! Just got a big Silver Lining piece of news. My second language evaluation test (part 1) is indefinitely postponed! ( my pre-situation deadline for renewing all three parts is by the end of Nov)

My step kids (17yo boy and 20yo girl ) are hanging out together and going for hikes together... seems like they're building a really nice relationship! Family dinner every night is filled with laughs.

Redesigning my workout space in the basement - I'm working out SO MUCH MORE now! I love it down there. In general, my house is getting seriously organized!

@BMcC9 Yes, encouraging one another any way we can. <3 There's no more food at my grocery store. The trucks haven't made it in for over week. No tinned fishes, meat, produce, dairy, bread, cleaning supplies. Not a single potato to be had. No potato chips or sparkling waters. No foo foo fun foods. Gone.

I've been ordering Domino's & via others since my grocery stores, didn't have enough. Hopefully that's an option, for you.

Horses dont carry COVID-19 so it's totally acceptable for me to spend all my free time with my new girl and ignore the rest of the world!

It's good to see you around. Enjoy your new girl :)
Just to be clear, you meant new horse right?.. not new girl? 😉😆

I'm learning to bake and cook from scratch and I'm enjoying it so much, big shocker because I never would have seen myself doing this before all this mess. jiboz33hhci5.jpg

A resident in our gated community who operates their taco trucks in LA, OC and SD are going to operate as a delivery service instead of parking and serving. Proud of small business food service owners and my neighbors signing up to order $15 minimum to help keep their family business operational - 2 hours 400 familes.

Eta: I love birria tacos, and I DO NOT SHARE. Hmmm am going to see if I can order catering size @filling as I can make my own fresh tortillas.

Agree. At least we are more equipped today to have algorithms isolate viruses and churn out possible vaccines and maybe the plasma from recovered patients of COVID-19 vs the flu of 1918 where blood letting was the favoured course treatment. Recovery trajectory is promising, only with a few who have weaker immune systems preempting their times.

CA drive-in theaters are closed too. Many in SoCal make an event of it on Saturday nights, using their classic cars ( usually open top).

Not sure where you’re at in Texas - but there is still a functioning drive thru off 45 between Dallas and Corsicana I believe. Might be off on the location but I know it’s off 45 just south of Dallas

Plant based alternatives are going through a boom and maybe it can bring a new wave of vegetarians/vegan/plant based....

    Also..

The term "meat plant" is so Orwellian.
