Hi! I am seeing a gastrointestinal doctor next week and am wondering what to expect? I am going in regards to chronic constipation. I have been to MULTIPLE other doctors but they have finally referred me to a gastro doctor.

What should I expect? Any advice?

    Not to scare you, but they will probably do a rectal exam. It's unpleasant but pretty quick. I have IBS and had to go to the GI doc a lot in the past. Pretty much every time, they did a rectal exam.

    This may be too personal, but how do they perform this exam? Should I expect x-rays, etc. I am so nervous! I hope they are nice ;) Haha!

    Do they come up with a diagnosis just through examining?
