I'm looking for some smoothie ideas that are low in calories and not high in sugar (unlike Smoothie King). What are some of your favorites?

Not sure if low-sugar because I use banana, but I like this smoothie:

    1 large banana (150g-ish), frozen
    100g spinach, frozen
    1 cup unsweetened almond milk
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp cocoa powder

I will also sometimes sub in frozen pumpkin puree instead of spinach, super delicious in fall.

Mine are never low cal since I add sources of fat, but it would be easy to make them so.

My usual base: zucchini, spinach, strawberries, some other fruit (today, blueberries), plus some source of protein (today, 1 cup of soy milk plus white beans (I always make sure they have protein)).

Left at that, reasonably low cal for a breakfast for me, but I also added sunflower seeds and peanut butter. Usually I add half an avocado, but I was out. The type and amount of seeds/nuts varies.
  • Lately, I've been blending and drinking either:

1 scoop of Optimum Nutrition Strawberries & Cream Whey Protein Powder
3 or 4 small, frozen strawberries
    2/3 cup of milk

    or...

1 scoop of Optimum Nutrition Vanilla Ice Cream Whey Protein Powder
    1/3 cup of frozen blueberries
    2/3 cup of milk

The only smoothie I’ve ever really liked, and only in hot summer.
    1 banana
Either: about 1 cup milk, or
Some water and vanilla whey protein powder, or
Cottage cheese or yogurt + a little milk, and
Enough ice to fill the blender jar.

Whizz until it’s really mixed, kind of ice creamy.

I have it for supper when it’s too hot to eat, so it’s a very low calorie meal.

Water, sliced apple, frozen strawberries, kale and a splash of apple juice. Low calorie, high nutrient and super delicious.

I like ice-creamy texture. A mixture of nonfat Greek yogurt, frozen banana, and another frozen fruit (I like raspberries or peaches) is a nice combo. Maybe add a touch of honey or maple syrup to cut the acidity. Then I like to top it with a sooonful of crunchy granola.
