TWO MONTHS POSTPARTUM & NO WEIGHT LOSS WHILE BREASTFEEDING

Hi Mamas! Last week baby turned two months old and I decided to jump on the scale to check out my weight loss progress. I was 115 pounds pre - pregnancy, gained 35 pounds during pregnancy and then lost 20 pounds immediately after child birth. In my mind I thought, "Awesome! 15 pounds won't be too difficult to lose!" I knew that it would take me a few months to get back to normal but I've been monitoring my calories and trying to eat within the 1600 - 1800 range so as not to affect my milk supply but still watch what I eat for my ravenous breastfeeding appetite! I've also been walking a ton (especially with the quarantine) as well as starting to do some at home workouts once I reached the 6 week marker. With that being said. My weight literally HASN'T BUDGED since the day I got home from the hospital and I also went up a pound! (Probably all the breast milk!) I guess I'm not one of those lucky gals who the pounds "melt off for" from breastfeeding, but any suggestions or moms who have gone through something similar? Do you think I won't be able to lose until I'm done with BF?

I gained weight while breastfeeding. I had low supply, and was eating like crazy trying to maintain something. I've only been trying to lose weight for the past 5-6 months since she self weaned. It's been slow and steady.
There's a chance you might not start losing til after you are done breastfeeding.

    Congrats on your little one!

I didn't lose either while breastfeeding... my body needed a huge amount of calories for the appetites of my little ones. Plus I was too spent to count strict calories.
  • I’m in same boat! Going to try and stick to 1600 range for now but like you am worried it will impact supply...

I'm currently breastfeeding and 6 months postpartum. I haven't lost any weight since I gave birth. Breastfeeding hasn't helped me lose weight, since I eat around 2400 calories a day. My appetite is through the roof since having the baby, so I gained weight instead. I think you will lose weight but maybe after you are finished breastfeeding or if you watch your calories.

I was in the same position with my first baby. Was 115lbs pre pregnancy, gained 35lbs and lost 20lbs right away.
I got pregnant with my second at 6months postpartum without losing the last 15lbs. After my second baby I tried to lose that last 15lbs again but my milk supply plummeted.
I just had my third baby nearly 2 months ago. I’d like to get back down to 120lbs but I’m not very confident. My body seems to need that extra couple pounds while breastfeeding.

I didn’t loose any while breastfeeding 🤱 at all. Everyone’s different. I concentrated on weight loss after he was winged all the scars healed up from the surgeries. (Had a nightmare birth experience so 2 2/2yrs to heal up). I have been eating right first y exercising later on once Doctor gave the okay for 1 yr now lost 45lbs only a few to go but the last pounds always hate to go! I’m in a good BMI now. Went from 130lbs prepregnancy to 200+ lbs pregnant 🤰 (I got so big off balance they stopped weigh ins) down to 195lbs while breastfeeding 🤱 held that for almost 2years started eating healthy lost some weight then Dr sent me here to this app found my healthy eating wasn’t calorie counting so was way more than I thought 💭 so learned healthy eating habits counted calories even for pepper on my potatoes 🥔! Switched to zero cal-10calories bbq sauces y dressings used 1 serving (I used to smoother my salads in 140-160cal per serving (spoonful) dressings but I had poured cups not a spoonful so yikes 😳 😬 😱 thousands of calories on my lettuce 🥬 lol .Lost more on this app found new exercises it’s helped regain mobility.

I found that everything that worked prior to this last pregnancy in old age No longer worked! Even my exercising is way different.
I went from weight lifting 🏋️‍♀️,watch what I eat except a huge ridiculous splurge day or two, not counting calories,Restaurant were free for all’s,walking y treadmills,y exercise bikes,y hot tub to pools was what worked. After can’t weightlift too many surgeries to repair me still need more. Pool y hot tub not possible had to move for a specialist when pregnancy loomed I knew they turn bad for me (2/4 of my pregnancies made it to full term so 2 kids but 4 pregnancies). I got to stay in 1150-1300 cal range now that I’m not breast feeding 🤱 y healed up. Foods I ate before upset my stomach or put weight on me so huge over haul on diet. I walk indoors, jump rope now (newest I added but detached bladder lol 😂 so not like when I was young got clean underwear for after ), exercise bands,y YouTube exercising videos from walking in place to Zumba’s (also new one),of course play soccer ⚽️ with my son since he could tittle around, cheat day is still counting calories only allowing a certain amount over 1x a month or every 2 weeks ,Restaurants got to take 1/2home or be mindful of what I grab . Eat 2 slices pizza 🍕 I’m in trouble oh no 🤦‍♀️ so 1 slice. Big change for me .

Just do your best start by eating healthy y having healthy foods for baby .Rest will fall into place as you can do more.

Crystal light teas - 5cal ones
G Hughes bbq sauce- sweet taste 10calories
Waldens dressing (ranch is old fashion version so eggy taste not the sugary ones folks eat now a warning try a different flavor unless your used to homemade dressings like that) 0 cal
    Sugarfree puddings y jellos
Unsweetened almond milk to unsweetened cashew milk
Sugarfree fudge pops to sugarfree juice pops.

Lots of stuff in markets to find once this virus is over.

Even with high calories I had a poor supply but it got son over his Jaundice so was worth blood nips y pumping for hours y hours just to get 1-5ounces in 24hours.I was able to keep it up for 2weeks before an Antibiotic for infection in my Csection dried me up. Doctor cheered that after a T cut csection plus all the damage with tubular breast issues that my body had the instinct to make just enough milk to get him healthy!

He wouldn’t latch cause I made so little but pumping definitely isn’t the same made it a struggle to get it out. He still saw me as a pacifier tho but wouldn’t suck darn it!
