Got a smart phone, downloaded the app, had trouble getting it initialized, so I finally came over to the site. I think the issue was that I was trying to modify my profile before my profile existed so it kept reverting to the defaults. Anyway, here I am.

Currently 6'-2", 232 lb. I'd like to get down to about 190.

In 2005, I South Beach Dieted my way from 236 to 168. I was actually *too* skinny. I gained a little back, then held for a few years, then it started to creep back on. The last straw came when I fell of my bicycle in April and broke my arm and didn't get much physical activity in during that time.

My wife's working on losing a few pounds (not as much as I need to lose), so we're back riding the bikes. I figure if I can watch the diet a bit, I should be able to get the weight off. The challenge this time will be to keep it off.

    Hi Paul.
I grew up north of Fort Worth and now live in Dallas.
    Welcome to MFP!:)

Wow, now that I'm learning how to use the smart phone app, it's really slick. For dinner tonight, I simply scanned the packaging on the food I had for dinner, told it how much I had, and bang, I was done. Very easy.

We're in the Ft. Worth area too. Originally from West Texas, but this is where all the jobs are found.

Welcome to MFP. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

I hate Dallas, but I love Oak Cliff (where I live). :)
Saw you in another thread talking about Spiral Diner. I used to live around the corner from the one in OC when my wife was vegetarian, and it was pretty much a saving grace for me as a meat eater.

Ha! I guess Oak Cliff is okay.

So... after one day on MFP, it's already paying off. Down a pound (okay, could easily be random variation), but more importantly, just knowing that I would have to log the late night snacks I usually eat, it gave me enough pause to pass them up altogether. I think I've been eating pretty well except that I don't stop when I should toward the end of the day. The logging gives me just enough accountability to keep from eating things I shouldn't.

So I got that goin' for me.
