Feeling woozy, nutritional deficit...?

So, for over a year now I've been very focused on exercise and diet and have, as time has gone by, implemented various things such as intermittment fasting, watching my carb/sodium intake and the like. At 6'7", it takes a lot to fuel me, and it was about a year ago while doing some work in my garage that I felt a sensation unlike anything I'd ever felt-for a moment, everything went hazy and I almost blacked out, like the most incredible head rush ever but not in a good way. Though it passed after about ten seconds or so, this feeling would manifest itself every once in a while, usually when I would go from laying down or sitting to standing, and eventually got to where this was happening all the time. I did gain some weight over the holidays, but now that it's starting to come off again I can feel this sensation re-materializing as well. Thoughts on what this might be? I know I've lost muscle mass and get colder easier as well due to the dieting-I'm not sure if either of those are related but I just thought I'd make mention.

    You should call your doctor.

Worth bringing up to your doctor, but not always a big problem.

I forget the term, but often caused by the low blood pressure reaction after sitting or laying down for a while. IIRC more common in those that have good to low blood pressure. Dehydration, heat, low blood sugar levels, and a couple other things can cause it to happen more frequently.

I had it happen once a few years back. Hot day, sitting cool down after a hard bike ride. The doctor said that with the increased risk factors of the heat, exercise, etc.... unless it happened again no real cause for concern.

    Orthostatic hypotension ?
I've been having that recently too when standing up, I'm guessing my weight loss has brought my blood pressure down (I used to have low blood pressure before becoming overweight).

I don't get it all the time though, like you. I think it can be checked by a doctor using a tilt table test.

It could be postural hypertension (when you get up suddenly and your blood pressure doesnt adjust quickly enough) it could be low iron levels, cardiac issues, a form of petit mal epilepsy, nothing.

But absolutely nobody can diagnose this over the internet.

You need to follow up with a doctor.

I had that to me too. My doctor diagnosed me with an inner ear infection.

    Call your doctor.

Probably one of those two, I forget which one he stated. :)

In any case, completely agree that a doctor is the one to figure it out.

But I can't possibly see how someone put a "disagree" to the poster above my original post when all they suggested was to call the doctor.

Congratulation, you just figured out what it feels like to be a woman. Well, for a small part anyway. Wanna try menstruation next?

It's likely postural hypotension, when your blood pressure suddenly drops when going for laying down to standing.

See your Dr. If it is, it's incredibly easy to diagnose, they take your BP while laying down, then stand you up and take it again immediately.

The solution, don't stand up too fast.

Basically my life, I've had that headrush feeling on standing too fast for most of my life.

As stated though, go see your Dr, because while this is the most likely diagnosis, it's not the only diagnosis and a Dr is the only one who can diagnose, not a random stranger on the Internet.

Signed, random stranger on the Internet.
