How Does INSANITY Work? Does it? Please help!!

Hey everyone, hope y'all are healthy and safe! Deleted my old account so posting from a new one. Im very new to working out and nutrition and all that. Ive been overweight my whole life and have decided to take the initiative. Im a male who weighs 227lbs (103kg) and am 6ft 1. I started the beach body insanity workout and have done it for a week. Feeling crazy sore and all and have been eating right. My concern is no way i can do the whole workouts, im working out maybe half the time, and catching my breath the other half. I wanted to ask if anyones done it, should I just stick with it and keep pushing through and what sort of results and when can one expect. I know results don't come overnight but what has your experience been weight loss wise. Ive struggled with weight loss in the past because of impatience when it comes to seeing results. Id appreciate the help and insight. Sorry for the long post. Stay safe and healthy!!

I love insanity. Completed 4 separate times. Thing is I didn't go from couch potato or light exercise right into it. I did it when I was training for marathons..

I've done it once- just do the best you can- either way you are building muscles by being sore and the more and more you do insanity it gets easier to catch your breath.

honestly if you are just starting out then i find insanity to be one of the harder BB workouts you could do - it has a premise of you being fairly active already. I'd definately scale workouts and just adjustments as needed (i.e. if the set is 20 reps - although i think they do more time than reps) - do half of it and take a short break (you can do the same if its a timed set - do half of it) and then slowly built up

I agree with everyone else. Insanity is, well, INSANELY hard! People that I've been on boards with most often start with 21 Day Fix (if you want BOD). Morning Meltdown 100 would also be a good one to start with. It's only 30 minutes a day and has modifiers. I am afraid you might burn out after a week or two if you are trying something so hard right off the bat.

    My personal experience has been:

Joined BOD last October, after not having exercised regularly in a few years. I did 21 Day Fix first. Then I did the first 60 days of Morning Meltdown 100 and needed a break. I have workout ADD and it's hard for me to stick with one program/instructor for so long. I did Liift4 for eight weeks and then went back and finished MM100. Now I'm on week four of 80 Day Obsession.

My point being the fact that I started with something that wasn't an advanced intensity has helped me stay with daily workouts. I don't mean to come across as a know-it-all. I'm just sharing my experience. :)

Good luck to you and congratulations for starting!

Yes!!! The 21 day fix program is way better for a beginner, and even that has a modifier. You should leave your workout feeling good about yourself, not defeated. Work up to insanity! (I never got there...it was so hard I just couldn’t force myself.) I also like Piyo!
