Can some exercise compromise other exercise

Options
Hi, so I'm new here, and I'm trying to lose weight. I'm doing pilates concentrating on reducing the size of my things, nevertheless, I'm also doing 1 hour of elliptical exercise every day, I was wondering if doing this will help me decrease the size of my inner things or just build up muscle and increase the size of them? should I stop doing the elliptical workout, if I don't want more muscles?
Thank you!

You can maintain muscle while in a deficit, but building muscle requires a calorie surplus which is contradicting to losing weight.

A surplus is not a REQUIREMENT to build muscle, helpful yes, but not a requirement.

Yes, as long as you stay in a calorie deficit.
