Heart racing at night after hard workouts?

Hello
Has anyone else experienced this? Often after longer runs or hard weight lifting sessions (usually squat day) I feel like I cannot unwind at night. My heart feels like it’s racing and just very amped up overall. It’s definitely correlated with the difficulty of the workout. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how did you combat it?

Thank you!

That's why some people recommend working out in the day.

If you're like me and you prefer working out at night, just take a 0.3mg dose of melatonin if you're having trouble sleeping.

    Meditation might help as well.

Are you eating and drinking something after the workout? Maybe you're short of fluid or minerals?
What do you do to wind down? Tried reading a relaxing book and leaving the tv off?
Good sleep hygiene in general? Bedroom temperature?

Other than that: My sleep is very restless when I work out in the evening. Unfortunately that's the only moment I'm able to run. Thus nothing I can do about it.

Silly question.... are you using any pre-workout supplements?

That happens to me. I have to work out in the mornings (unless I'm just doing a light, recovery workout). About all you can do is learn how your body reacts to various exercise intensities. I've found some light workouts are OK in the evening, but all real workouts that have a training effect are only tolerable in the mornings.
