I'm 5'4" and weigh 100 lbs. I want to weigh 105 lb at least by May 1. I need around 1,700 calories to maintain my weight, so I'm starting off at 2,020 calories everyday. How long will it take to gain 5 lb if I eat this many calories with little to no exercise?

It's only 300-320 above maintenance, so it's less than 1lb gain per week. Also, as you gain, your maintenance calories will increase, so your surplus will actually decrease if you do not increase your calories over time.5

What calories does it give you when you set mfp to gain a lb a week?

You can set it to your amount of exercise and calculate how many calories you would need to gain weight. It is recommended that 1-2 pounds a week is a safe amount to loose or gain a week. Personally i think gaining weight you csn gain a little more if you wanted, but loosing you have to be careful. Its just not good for your body if you loose or gain to much weight to fast. It is better gradually. But it seems like in 2-3 weeks you want to gain 5 pounds which seems very doable. Yout want to gain weight so you have to eat and take in more calories then you burn each day. Most likely the app will have u eating roughly 300-500 more calories then your maintence and what you would need to eat to maintain weight. Gaining 5 pounds in 2-3 weeks is very doable. You should see after u input your new goal into the app what it give you for calories for the day and try to eat that amount everyday. Don’t worry if you go over a little as your trying to gain weight just try to stay at whatever they give you and you should be good. Honestly if your someone like me who likes to have a cheat day and or meal every few weeks you could have a couple of those days as if you don’t exercise cheat days can add up and sometimes make you gain wait depending on how big of a cheat day you had if you don’t exercise afterward. Personally if i needed to gain weight since I love food I probably just eat as much as i wanted and whatever I wanted. It wouldn’t be the absolute most healthy maybe, but it would be a lot more then I was eating prior if i did that. I found that when i log my food on here to the best of my ability sometimes even just estimating how much of a food item I ate that i tend to eat less and that it’s way easier to eat healthier as you see the nutrition facts when logging the food. If you feel like you would eat the same weather logging or not logging then you might want to log just to make sure you eat enough. If you want to eat healthy still and gain weight then that can work to you might just have to eat bigger serving sizes then you use to. Hope this helps and gives you some ideas.
