Cut out the Diet Pepsi, Gained weight like Crazy

So On August 10th I made the decision to cut diet pepsi out of my life. It was almost becoming an addiction, I would crave it all day and think about it until I got one.
I never drank pop until 4 years ago and was now drinking 2 cans a day.
I have had 1 fountain pop ( diet coke) in the 11 days ,and that was when I went to the movies about a week ago. It was a treat. I no longer crave it, and I'm drinking tonnes of water.
I use my wii fit now and then, as of a week ago, it said I had gone up 2.0 kg and then now, 3 days later says another 1.5 kg on top of that. I don't even know how that is possible
I haven't been eating any worse than I normally do, in fact, I've been trying to make healthier decisions.
Can going off diet colas/ caffeine make you gain that much weight? I can't find any other explanation. It sounds crazy to gain that much.

Have you been tracking your food intake? How long have you been tracking your weight? Is an upward fluctuation normal around this time?0

You said you're drinking tons of water now? It could just be water weight. Also if it is around the time you start your period or you are on your period your body could be retaining more water.0

Drinking diet soda doesn't make you gain or lose weight. Neither does cutting it out make you gain or lose weight.
Eating at a calorie deficit makes you lose....eating above your maintenance (aka calorie surplus) makes you gain.
This is all I can say based on the info you have given.
Do you use a food scale to weigh your food?
What is your calorie goal set at? Do you consistently log your food? can you open you diary?
What does your exercise routine look like? Do you eat your exercise calories back?
Are you nearing your period?
