Which activity level to choose

I have been using MFP for 8 months and have had great success. I was previously staying home with my kids so I had my activity level set to sedentary and was logging all my exercise. I recently started a job at a grocery store where I am stocking shelves overnight for 7.5 hours. I am on my feet the whole time and lifting heavy boxes and up and down on a stool and walking all over the store. I know that I need to change my activity level but I’m just not sure which one to choose. Am I lightly active or active or more? It’s such a big change I really don’t know where this would fall. Any ideas?

    It's based on results

If you choose active and eat those calories and your set to 1lbs per week and you lose around or a bit over that, active is fine. Change it to lightly active if you are not getting those results

If you choose lightly active and you find your progress is too fast then change it to active.

You can choose which way to find that end result.

I would choose the most active setting. Then give it a couple months before you decide if it's right.

You may have some initial changes in your weight (up a pound or two) but stay the course. You definitely fit the description of Very Active. I'm assuming your kids didn't become less of an energy expenditure just because you're now working. I bet you don't have time (or energy) for the purposeful exercise either. :flowerforyou:

Other than that, it's like Krissy said. It's all about your particular results - over time, not the first week.

The others are correct. Also, I would err on the side of losing too slow initially because erring on the side of fatigue is no good when getting accustomed to a new job.

You're very active or above by definition. Whether your logging and results bear that out is an open question.
