First (virtual) Sprint Tri!

Whoop whoop!
This weekend was originally going to be my first sprint triathlon, which of course has been postponed until October (it was the first one of the season for them, the subsequent ones are becoming virtual going into May and June). They scheduled Quarantri for this weekend so I figured why not (the T-shirt will be a neat way to save a piece of history for me). It took until late morning to get my brain and body convinced to get out and GET IT DONE! I also conquered a small part of my fear of riding on the road - thankfully it was quiet and I was only passed by a handful of cars. 12 (slightly hilly) miles, 5k run, then finished it off with 5 minutes of indoor rowing (it was 5 minutes of a third activity of your choice). Rowing felt like one of the more legit ways for it to feel like a true Tri and not cheating myself.
My biggest concern going into this weekend was the time limits - an hour for the ride, 40 minutes for the 5k so I was pleased that, even with the hills, turning around, and figuring out just where to ride, I came in under time! I knew I could do each part individually, but wasn’t sure how I would do back to back.
Weather was beautiful! (Especially compared to tomorrow AM’s forecast, the original race date)... rode through beautiful farm land, lots of birds out and about, a good nature adventure as well!

Good job! Sounds fun. And a good way to stay interested and motivated when we can't do "real" races. 👍1
