Deceptive nutrition labels!

Anyone see foods out there with deceptive labels, be it they do not count fiber under carbs or total calories, etc.? I'll go first. These "Carb Counter" Wraps did not add up total fiber into total calories. These are actually 93.5 calories, NOT 50. That was so disappointing to me.

Not deceptive - marketing and very common outside US (net carbs) - personally I make a food entry for it called not net carbs and just go with it1

I have too many to count on one hand! Will be adding2

Thank you. I really need to be more careful with packaged foods. Hopefully this thread will help us all "catch" these.0 -
I dont think I understand..
Fiber has no calories so after you subtract the fiber, the carbs are only 5.. if carbs are 4 calories per gram, that would be 20 calories. 9 calories per gram of fat is is 14 calories for 1.5g of fat listed.. so that's 34 calories
4g of protein.. is 4 calories per gram so that's 16
That's 50 calories9 -

I do the same (re: making own entry), but I do think it is misleading as not everyone counts net carbs and everybody responds to different fibers differently. Wish more brands would market "Low NET carbs" rather than just "low carb" so you can at least go into it knowing.1 -

Technically it does have calories, but I believe that we can't digest it, so a lot of nutritionists and such claim they don't count because they're just in and out.2 -
You dont digest fiber, that's why its subtracted from the carbs, so if you dont digest it, it cant count towards calories because you're just passing it through.
That's why for diabetics they subtract fiber and sugar alcohols for a net carb count cause it's the net carbs that are digested3 -

So should we just be going by the labels?? Making our own entries? I have a feeling @pancakerunner is on to something in creating own entries.0 -
If you want to make your own entries to only include net carbs, you can. But as far as the calorie count on the package you took a pic of, its correct with the 50 calories3

My understanding is soluble fiber gets at least partially digested, so it is typically considered to have calories. Insoluble fiber is not digested, so your body never gets the chance to extract calories out if it. I believe all that is up for debate though.
It's not misleading, it's just a point of contention that hasn't been settled yet, at least that's my understanding.2 -
My world is shook I can’t wait to see what other products are like this0

Lol. It was a delight to me way back when, when I realized sugar alcohols were also taken off the carb count, as a diabetic myself, it really opened up the world of sugar free treats
But sugar alcohols do cause gas if consumed in bigger amounts, so be prepared to fart all night if you have a little night of chocolate or treats lol2 -
FWIW, some of these products include nondigestible fiber in the form of cellulose (sometimes derived from wood, not always), but this one seems not to. Ingredients per the web:Wheat Fiber, Enriched Bleached Flour (wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin And Folic Acid), Water, Mono And Diglycerides, Olive Oil, Baking Powder, Salt, Calcium Propionate, Gum Blend, Sorbic Acid, Fumaric Acid, Sugar, Dough Relaxer (sodium Metabisulfite, Corn Starch, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Dicalcium Phosphate).
IMU, wheat fiber - the predominant ingredient in these - is a similar sort of mostly-nondigestible fiber product, but derived from wheat.1
