Hi guys!
Here’s my story in a nutshell. In my teens/twenties and early thirties (I am 46), I went back and forth beteeen being thin and “not thin.” For the past 10 years I’ve yo-yo’ed between 15 lbs but overall been stable.
Then, in December, I was already slightly heavier than I had been in 10 years and I ended up have major complications after a routine surgery (I’m from MN and was rushed to Mayo where I ended up having many surgeries/procedures to fix the damage). I was in bed rest for over a month and partial bed rest the following months. Needless to say, it wa last kind to my waistline.
Then, like so many of us, covid has gotten to me. I’m a teacher and this teaching remotely is tough. Very depressing.
Bottom line, since Dec., I have gained approx 30 lbs (with the added 5 lbs I had already gained so 35 heavier than the high end of my “I feel healthy weight”)...lost the majority of my muscle mass and am really struggling.
I do better with lower carbs (I am gluten intolerant and rarely eat replacement flours so low carb isn’t a shock to my system) but lately have been having a couple glasses of wine in the evening and chips have found their way back I to my house. Oh and the ice cream! Eek
My other goal is to get my athletic body back. I had a spinal fusion in my 20’s and major knee surgery on my 30’s (like a knee replacement without metal) and the extra weight gain has not been kind to my weak area.
I’m a step taker. When I’m healthy, I tend to get 20K a day...today I got 13,500 and consider that a win.
Hope to find support because
