Ok, for a couple of days before my favorite Aunt Flow visits, I can't stay away from nasty foods. I want the onion rings everyone else had at lunch and the pizza and the cupcakes for dessert. I want greasy or chocolately foods so bad that I get grumpy if I don't have them. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do?

I used too. We call it death con at my house. I was craving Twix bars. Now I grab almonds if I want salty and dark choc if I want sweet or mix the two when I want both.
    Good luck

I'm the same way. I allow myself to have what I crave during that time. Not to an extreme, but I'll have a couple cookies or pizza. This was the reason last weekend was so bad for me...

Thanks. I gave in this weekend and ate pizza, but then got on the elliptical for over an hour because I was so mad at myself. Maybe I am trying to be a little too strict.

    Ditto!!

One thing I've learned is when I'm craving junk food, I'll go brush my teeth or pop in a piece of gum. For some reason that helps. :glasses:

I do the same things!! As crazy as it sounds..it does help!!
I've been buying canned pineapple tidbits. I drain them, put them in a baggie and freeze them.
When I crave something sweet, I pop a bunch in my mouth. Even though Im not craving fruit, the sweetness craving is completely satisfied

    Good Luck:wink:

I only get mine every 3 months because of the pill I'm on, but it seems like all my cravings just build up for those three months and I can't control myself!

Same here! I only get mine every few months but I'm told I get very, very cranky and I feel like my cravings build up too.

you should post that pineapple idea! that is so simple - I cannot believe I have never heard or thought about that!

Running out to the store now! Hey, has anyone ever seen Pineapple with No Sugar Added? Like the delmonte pears and peaches? we are a diabetic house and cannot have sugar syrup....

All the pineapple I've ever seen was in it's own juice. Shouldn't be hard to find - and pineapple is a lower GI food too

Most men will be no help during those days - we've developed an acute defense mechanism the scientific community calls "having dove bars, hershey bars, and Haagan Daas on hand." This is done for our own personal safety ;)

    Kidding!!!!

    (or am I?)

  • My man is very supportive except when aunt flow is coming then he makes me cake:drinker: ... lol... I feel bad for him really because I work in a customer service job and have to be nice so he gets the brunt of my frustration:mad: ... but hey, once a month I get cake and Ice cream with out a lecture about sticking to my diet:happy: ... hehehe...

what frustrates me most is that during those couple of days the thought of working out just makes me sick and angry:explode: ... so I don't work off the cals as good as I should... does anyone else have this problem?

I can have cravings any time of the month so I never deny myself. I can't wait to treat myself once a week so I find ways to eat the food I crave but in moderation or modified. If you want a chocolate bar get the mini pieces and freeze them. When you think you want one take it out but you have to wait for it to thaw to eat it so by then the craving may pass. And there is nothing wrong with treating yourself. I don't want to feel like I'm struggling all the time. If realize that I can lose weight while still eating the occasional or modified sweet or salty snack then I'm more likely to stick with the plan.

i don't deny myself food i want within reason of course but when aunt flow comes a knocking oh boy those cravings and whats worse is if i don't sort it out then and there i keep that need right after wards till next time aunt flow comes. so will need to find something i can have that isn't bad oh just had a thought usually i want caramel (condensed milk boiled in tin for 3 hours, or the ready tined stuff they sell now (home made is better) what i could do is the pineapple idea and freeze small portions so that im not tempted to eat the lot in fear that it will go off and wasted then one tin will last a hell of alot longer lol mix it with pineapple idea could be an idea
