Red onion

I was told that red onion left over in the fridge is toxic. I want to add it to my sandwiches but I am worried about how to store it in the fridge. And how long to kerp it in the fridge.

    There's some legitimate science above, but here to add that I've been eating a chopped raw onion over multiple days since *forever* and I've never been sick from it.
