First full round with the group! Looking for accountability and some slow/consistent changes. This round is about adding activity to my days and not focusing on the past - just where I’m going!
Journey Start: 4/20/2020 155.8 lbs
Journey Goal: 140 lbs
R112 start/end: 152/153.2
Round 113 Goal: 150 lbs
Day/Weight/Comment
05/07 152 Off my 153.2 plateau hopefully. It’s time to move the scale this round. I’m motivated.
05/08 151.4 Walked around the neighborhood yesterday and glad I did! 1.4 miles is way better than just the desk to the kitchen! 🤣 Happy Friday! I’m thinking of some weekend intentions to keep on similar schedule and meal times as much as possible.
05/09 152.4
05/10
05/11 153.4 (did not keep routine)
05/12 151.8 Yesterday I recorded but didn’t post because I was reflecting on the gain. It’s going to take more intentional methods to see the scale change. I don’t get excited about intermittent fasting, but that is what works. I’m going to stick with it for the rest of the round.
05/13 152.4 I think my dinner is still with me 🤣 I did walk 1.7 miles yesterday. That felt really good. It’s a brand new day and I’m not giving up.
05/14 151.8 I had a very sensible dinner last night and feeling good today. Woke up hungry but going to stick to the plan!
05/15 151.6 Another good day yesterday sticking to the plan. Probably won’t make my goal this round but feeling like I’m on track and making some progress. Maybe I should revise my goals to a slower loss. 🤣 I’d love to work towards more of a trending loss next round instead of seeing the weekend gain. #goals

05/07 – 157.4 lbs 1100 calories, 12,000 steps, IF 16 hours Lots of errand shopping today, hoping to pick a bunch of stuff up for graduation but most exciting I get to go the greenhouse today. YaY!
05/08 - 157.2 lbs, 900 calories, 10,000 steps, IF 16 hours. Feeling hugely relieved getting most of my Graduation shopping done, including the cake ordered. Unfortunately I can't plant my plants in pots, This morning we were 25 and tomorrow we are to have a low of 20 with 1-3 inches of snow and 30 mph sustained wind. Ugh!
05/09 - 158.6 lbs 1100 calories, 16,000 steps IF 16 hours. We definitely got the sleet and 3 inches of snow.
05/10 - 159.0 lbs 900 calories, 6000 steps IF 16 hours, Finished Quilting a wall hanging for a friends birthday. Happy Mother's Day!
05/11 - 159.2 lbs 1400 calories, 6000 steps IF 16 hours. Back to spring cleaning today. Hopefully the sun comes out, low last night was 20.
05/12 - 158.0 lbs 900 calories, 12,000 steps IF 16 hours. Today looks promising for sun and high maybe mid 40's, yay. Why is it you take most every thing out of a room and love it's look and wish you really didn't have to find room for all that stuff you took out. LOL
05/13 - 157.6 lbs 22,000 steps, IF 16 hours, to busy to count calories but it was the same thing I usually eat with no snacking. More rain, at least I can spring clean and not worry about doing any yard work. LOL
05/14 - 158.2 lbs 10,000 steps IF 16 hours I did not count again but should of been the same. I just seem to bounce so this is normal. Trip to town today with my usual crew. We are hoping our one loan clothing store in town has opened up again. I have lost 20 lbs since fall and I really could use a smaller size. I really dislike buying pants on line and stores farther away have not opened yet for clothes either.
05/15 -158.8 lbs 10,000 steps, IF 1600 calories, Gain is from the couple beers we had after shopping. No luck in the clothing store being open.

Round 112 SW 151.4 EW 151.4
5/07- 151.2 It would be amazing if I reached goal this challenge, but we'll see.
5/08- 150.2 Holy *kitten*. I'm there. I want to actually get to 150. But I made it. I haven't seen this number since my wedding day in 2002 and prior to that high school. Can I say that I'm way more fit than I have ever been in my life. I'm actually scared about moving to maintenance soon, but I'm not thinking maintenance yet. I know how these roller coasters go.
5/09- 149.4 YAY! I reached goal! OMG. I almost can't believe it. I even had chinese carry out last night, but hiked a good 5 miles. WOW! Just wow. Will FP adjust my calories to maintenance automatically or do I need to go change something? I'm going to complete this challenge because this is a lifestyle change and I'm pretty sure I'll need to keep logging to stay on track and continue to make good choices.
5/10-150.4
5/11- 152.2 I'm so not surprised. I went way over calories. My mom brought a cherry pie and I ate 2 pieces, and cookies and carry out. It was probably worth it. I haven't adjusted my goal as I now I have to get down 2 lbs again. I'm going to spend some time trying to figure out what I want maintenance to be. Probably anything below 150. And I'm not there consistently at all yet. But that's OK. This isn't a race.
5/12- 151.8 getting back to where I need to be. I've felt a little run down did no work out/activity which is rare for me. It was also freezing here.
5/13- 149.4 good
5/14- 149.6
5/15- 149.6 I got my kids sickness yesterday, so no real activity for me, but my appetite is down too thankfully. I need to give my body rest10 -

5/07/20 - 181.4
I went to a nearby park yesterday for a walk, and holy cow, it was very busy with many groups of 4-8 people on the paths, no masks (except mine), no sense of holding back to allow distancing. I ended up cutting my walk short, getting off the path and onto the grass to get back to my car. I simply don’t get it. I guess I need to get my fanny out very early for walks. On a happier note, I get to pick up a bunch of plants from our Botanical Conservatory’s annual sale this afternoon! Yay!
5/08/20 - 181.6
Now that I have a bunch of new plants to plant, we’re getting a freeze tonight. So the plants are snuggled in for now on top of the washer and dryer. 🌿🌸🌱 We’ve been having some nice conversations. 😁 In the meantime, I have a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread in the oven — the last of my gift list for members of our congregation, although I’m going to bake more bread for friends — the looks on people’s faces when you deliver home baked bread is priceless! 🥖 Plus I love to bake but don’t need the results within snacking distance. It’s a win-win!
5/09/20 - 181.6
Cold night last night, but I covered my tulip buds, and everything else seems to have made it, too. Everything’s coming back to life. Last year this time there was nothing in this bed except the roses and a couple of really hideous shrubs. Now it makes me happy. Have a lovely Saturday, all. Be well.
5/10/20 - 182
Ok, I saw that coming. I went a little nuts last night and snacked in the evening. Emotional eating. But my average over the week is well below maintenance, so this is temporary. Planning a walk if the rain and wind hold off. Maybe a little gardening, too.
5/11/20 -181.6
Cold nasty wind, rain today....frost again tonight. I’m being extra wimpy about outdoor activity because I don’t want to get any kind of sick right now. I think I’ll order more yarn. 🧶
5/12/20 - 181.8
I spent most of the day yesterday on my butt updating my website and, when I got sick of that, knitting and listening to audio books. I’d forgotten what a rabbit hole that can be! This is supposed to be the last of the chilly days around here. I hope so! I’m itching to get into my garden and to amp up my walking program to get back to my old 5-10 miles a day. I felt so much better when I was doing that. The habit fell by the wayside 2 years ago when I got PMR. It’s time! I hope you’re all doing well.
5/13/20 - 181.8
Trying to cut myself some slack but I’m pretty disappointed in myself righ5 now for regaining so much weight and hanging out in this neighborhood for the past 3.5 months. Not sure if I need a hug or a kick in the pants. Maybe both? Anyway, it’s a lovely day so I’m off to walk on the Rivergreenway and then stop by one of my favorite nurseries—need some happy flowers. Be well!
5/14/20 - 182.6
Sodium. Pizza. Excuses. Kicking myself.
5/15/20 - 181.8
I’m scared to break out my warm-weather clothes. I’m sure a lot of things won’t fit. I’ve been wallowing in a “what difference does it make?” funk the past week, which isn’t me, so obviously some depressed entity has possessed me. I’m trying to exorcise the demon with work, garden, walks between squalls, knitting, audio books.... Then I remind myself that, quarantine or not, I have it pretty good. I hope you’re all finding ways to cope. Off to play with plants — they’re pretty optimistic!

SW 126.2 (April 14th, 2020)
Highest lifetime weight: 138 lbs. August 2011
Goal Weight: 110
Last round: 125.2 122.8
Goal weight for this round: 121 range
Weight on 5/6: 122.8
05/07 122.6 Sweet, lost another .2! Yesterday was good food wise. I made carnitas in the pressure cooker last night for dinner and turned them into bowls with brown rice, black beans, and mango salsa. They were yummy and will be dinner tonight too! Had another good walk this morning, around 3.5 miles. Last night was fun and I had a random sober dance party for like 45 minutes because my husband was listening to throw back pop songs covered by heavy metal singers. So, I couldn’t help but dance while he continued to be on the computer and enjoy his beverages. Have a good day everyone 😊.
05/08 123.2 Water weight fluctuations are fun, this is probably due to my salty dinner last night but man was that Annie’s Mac and Cheese worth it. I had a craving and indulged but I did manage to stay within calories. I also savored every bite! So, it’s all good. I even squeezed in an impromptu cardio session before dinner last night! Just got back from our morning walk and it was accidentally extra long at 5.5 miles. I’ll take it 😊.
05/09 123.2 I’ll take the steadiness at least. Maybe I’ll drop tomorrow. Who knows. Bodies are so weird when it comes to weight loss. Today was decent with food but kind of a hard day to track my dinner. I made myself an awesome bowl of oatmeal for my breakfast/lunch @ 11 because I intermittent fast. Then for dinner I made buffalo chicken cutlets so that was hard to calculate. I probably ate about 5 oz of chicken with a ¼ cup bread crumbs made from Ezekiel bread (the only stuff I had to make crumbs with) and a couple tablespoons worth of oil. There was also some hand made fries cooked in the air fryer. So, I did the best I could with my estimates and I guess that’s all you can do. I’m pretty sleepy today and was happy that I attended a virtual christening for my baby cousin because it gave me an opportunity to see some family via Webex and lay in bed for a couple hours 😊. It’s been a solid day. Have a good night everyone!
05/10 122.8 Was busy with stuff for mother’s day and didn’t have a chance to pop in here. I made a pot roast in the pressure cooker with some carrots and parsnips. Then, I made some mashed potatoes to go with it. It was a nice family dinner with my in-laws and my mother in law appreciated me cooking it all. We live with them but don’t typically eat with them because our living space is separate from theirs. Didn’t really exercise this weekend except for some nice stretching on Saturday. My body definitely needed the rest though.
05/11 122.8 Feeling a little slow moving today. We went on our usual walk but kept it to around 5k this morning. I might break my fast early this morning and have some tea because I have zero ambition to do any work today. Have a great day everyone!
05/12 122.8 Hey all! Feeling much better today. I got a good night’s sleep and have a feeling the weight will be dropping this week because the hormonal water weight/ and ish will be clearing out soon. Energy is up and we went for an almost 5 mile walk today 😊. Food went well yesterday, and today’s plan is looking good too! I’ll be making some maple blueberry breakfast sausage that came in our CSA to be part of my first meal of the day. I’m excited to try it because it’s new to me! Have an awesome day!
05/13 122.8 I’ll take this little stagnation, I’m just grateful to be maintaining it. My body feels good, so I’m happy with that. We did a 4 mile walk this morning and I did a 15ish minute body weight workout this morning. The energy is slowly starting to come back again. It’s so interesting how hormone fluctuations can make you feel throughout the month. I’m also going to try some fennel and dandelion tea to see if this weight is just a bit of fluid retention. I also had a carb heavy dinner but it was so good! It felt and looked like a restaurant meal. We had dry packed gnocchi with frozen meatballs, Rao’s marinara (our favorite sauce to treat ourselves) fresh basil and romano cheese on top. The best part is that it was within my calories for the day 😊.
05/14 122.8 Got in another good walk this morning. My muscles were sore from my workout yesterday so I took it as a sign to rest and focused more on stretching this morning instead of a body weight workout. I might try to do some jump roping later on today to get in a little cardio. My food was good yesterday, I made a breakfast sandwich plus an orange for my first meal, snacked on some dried fruit in the afternoon and made a mushroom and veggie coconut milk dish served over brown rice and lentils. Solid day over all 😊 I hope you all are able to enjoy your day a bit!
05/15 121.6 Woo! It’s been a while since I’ve seen that number. I'm not sure it's real because my scale was a little funky, but I'll take it lol. 😊 Yesterday was a good day food wise and I managed to get in some jump rope later in the day too. We went on another really good walk this morning and broke 6 miles kind of accidentally. It was so nice though, 56 degrees and the first day in a long time where I was able to wear a sweatshirt instead of a winter jacket on our morning walks. Today we have jerk chicken on the menu for dinner tonight and I'm very excited for it!

Hi, I’m Karen and I’m in my 50’s
OSW-187 Sept. 2018
Goal Weight this Round: Stay in 50’s-
Drink plenty of water and get the boxes unpacked.
RSW-153 RGW-150
5/7-153-Off to meet movers to load the truck. Long day.
5/8-DNW
5/9-154-I’m OK with this. The movers brought our items from storage and I walked 5.5 miles putting it away. We are in the process of moving from where we have lived for the last year and it is hot. I’m off to the grocery store and will look like a hoarder, loading the empty refrigerator and cupboards.
5/10-154
5/11-153-My husband had our boys surprise me and they showed up to help us get moved and to celebrate Mother’s Day and my birthday. It was a wonderful weekend and we all got to spend the first night in our new house together.
5/12-153-Glad to be holding. I cut up lemons and cucumbers had them in my water all day. Same today; it makes me feel healthy. I’m taking a walk this morning, then by quilt shop that is only open 2 hrs./week. Then back to working on boxes.
5/13-152-Walked some in the morning, then worked on boxes and unpacking and ended up walking 6 miles. Lots of water.
5/14-151-IF for 19 hrs. Ate sensibly, no walk but on my feet all day, drinking lemon/cucumber water. No cravings for junk.
5/15-150-IF 17 hr. I don’t log my food because MFP is rude and tells me it’s not healthy to eat like that...IF, meaty salad for lunch, protein shake and VEGES for dinner. That’s what works for me. I don’t think a women in her 50’s designed this app.7 -
I'm going to try this again...Thank you all for still being here, was really excited to see this challenge still going from when I used it over 2 years ago. I didn't achieve much last round...except for starting the habit of daily accountability. This round I'm going to work more on my food habits, I need to figure out a way to keep shoving bad snacks in my face in the late afternoon and later evening.

SW - 182.2-April 2020
GW-140-Made it to 142 once before...goal is to get there again before I turn 50
Day/Weight/Comment
05/07: 182.2 - basically back where I started at the beginning of last round. We've been filling in our Family calendar with national and international celebration days since there are not band rehearsals, sports, volunteer groups happening right now...and yesterday was "No Diet Day" so my boys requested all the fried food and poutine....we haven't had poutine in over 2 months, it's usually only an eat out treat for us, but my "homemade" version was SOOOOO good....
05/08: 179.2 - flushed a lot of that end of cycle hormone bloat yesterday, I could almost feel it leaving thought the day. Food choices were great!! Had extra salad instead of the noodles I made for everyone else as a side at dinner last night. Found out yesterday that the August gift show I usually work on for my main freelance clients has officially been cancelled for this year. It's one of my main gigs and at this point I'm usually putting together planograms and sample orders for it....I'm still hopeful that as our province begins to re-open more that they'll still be needing me to work in their showrooms. I'm really missing my creative work life right now
05/09: 179.0 - Good day yesterday great hike with the dog in the morning, kind of boring day but ended with an awesome virtual chat with one of my housemates from university. We've been doing zoom coctail parties every couple of weeks since isolation started, but tonight only she and I could make it, we were going to cancel but so glad we had a chance to connect one on one. We got 2 inches of snow last night...so I'm not very motivated to do our regular morning hike today, maybe I'll get one of the boys to pick up the kettlebells with me this afternoon.
05/10: 177.8 - Unexpected but kind of makes sense...I usually have a big drop the first few days of starting or re-starting a significant change in my eating habits. I think what I was doing last week was blocked by my raging peri-menopausal hormones. Now that is cleared for this cycle my body is self adjusting. Had a good food day and did end up going for a long walk with the dog but no hike in the snow. Looking forward to the Mother's Day Brunch my hubs is picking up from one of our local favourites. We haven't eaten anything not prepared at home since March.
05/11: 179.0 - Didn't even attempt to log my delicious brunch yesterday.
05/12: 180.8?!?! - I'm all over the place....bodies are weird. I do need to lay off the carbs a bit though...everyday I have some extra I bump the water retention.
05/13:179.0 - turned around back in the right direction.
05/14:179.6 - Started yesterday with an awesome hike with the dog...then pulled my calf muscle on the sidewalk on our way back home from the bluffs...felt it twang and thought I was going to have to call my husband to come pick me up...left me pretty gimpy for the rest of the day. It's tight this morning but not as bad as I though it might be. I think we'll just stick to a walk in the neighbourhood for the next few days.
05/15:179.4 - stuck to the sidewalks on our walk yesterday....going downstairs (and downhill) is really painful on that calf...but it feels a lot better this morning. It's pouring rain out there right now, supposed to clear up this afternoon so I'm going to take it easy again today and hopefully we can get out for a family hike tomorrow, as it's supposed to be the only good weather day on our upcoming long weekend here (May 24/Victoria Day in Canada)

Day/Weight/Comment
05/07 187.2 Not what I was looking for. Eating well, under calories, but I have added strength and I’m eating some different foods at breakfast. Will wait this out for awhile but hope to find losses soon.
05/08 187.0 Guess I’m basically on another plateau. Doing habits “right” but I’m going to have to wait for results.
05/09 186.8 I’ve been looking for a bigger drop, but if I knew I would lose 0.2 everyday for the next few weeks I’d be happy.
05/10 187.4 So much for dropping 0.2 everyday! I’m ending my week on maintenance as of today and hope the lower calorie target will help get me going again.
05/11 187.6
05/12 DNW
05/13 187.6
05/14 188.2
05/15 187.6 clearly I’ve been struggling through the last few rounds. I’m going to keep hanging on, though. Even if I just maintain I’m still down 25 for the year.

@AR10at50 Karen, I haven’t used MFP for tracking in ages. When I went LCHF, I found it difficult to figure my macros without having to pay for premium and I wasn’t going to do that. And I assume it’s based on old science which says to eat a lot of fruits and veggies, which is way too many carbs for me.4

05/07 120.5 Reaction to carbs. I wasn’t excessive but my body hates them. Only 30 total grams, 26 net but the good news is that those tortilla chips I used to love are really not that good. Amazing how taste changes when you avoid that garbage. Also bloated and my shorts are tight when they were loose a couple of days ago.

05/11 121.0 Great Greek salad always does this. It will pass. Late addition- I weighed last night on the way to bed and almost had a stroke! I was 126!! Up 5.5 from yesterday morning. I got up and peed THREE times during the night! I know it will go back down in a day or two. The advantage of weighing daily and learning my body’s patterns.
05/12 121.0 Online grocery shopping stinks!
05/13 120.5 I can’t believe this round is almost over!
05/14 121.5 Fasted until 3PM yesterday and then had one meal and a snack by 8:30, went to bed just before 11.
05/15 120.0 I was right on my macros even after enjoying part of a baked potato with dinner.6 -

@CamandJarvis I hope your ankle feels better! That's so frustrating when those things happen, especially when it's a previously injured ankle.
@matratazola That coconut milk dish is really good and you can add a lot of different veggies to it or keep it as simple as you'd like. The original recipe from the cookbook calls for 1 can of coconut milk, shallots, chilies, and mushrooms. Then a sprinkle of cilantro on top to add some freshness. We usually add a couple extra veggies, this time we used carrots, parsnips, onions, dried Thai chilies because we didn't have fresh chilies, and mushrooms. It's nice because it's a comforting dish that you can eat a bowl full of and it's not damaging. I also add a dash of garlic powder too!
@tishawj I hope your calf continues to feel better! Those can be so painful when they get pulled, that has happened to someone I know just by stepping onto or off of a sidewalk too!4 -

05/15 - 151.2 - I'm okay. That's what happens when dinner plans fall through last minute and we have no option but to eat out (too hungry to not eat) -- definitely sodium jump. Doubt I'll make my goal tomorrow but I'm definitely going to try to drop down to low 150.x I'm fine, its life and unexpected things happen. Lots of driving today so pushing water and fasting as much as I can. Hopefully it doesn't ruin my hopes of 150.x (though I'll be sitting as much as I will be at home -- ankle started bruising but swelling went down a bit. Still painful to walk so minimizing weight-bearing movement
05/16
Previous Day's Comments05/07 - That's a bigger drop than I expected all at once... Only had a couple bites at dinner as I wasn't very hungry -- noticed I really only ate those few bites because I love egg rolls and I wanted to try this place (one of the few in town I had not yet been to/ordered from previously). After that, I was content to go back outside away from the kitchen and food without much issue or feeling deprived. I'm sure I'll be up and down this round, but I'm going to try my hardest to focus on portion control -- even with healthy options, I over-indulge more often than I should. I think if I can portion things out, particularly at dinner, my weight won't bounce around like it has continuously done since I moved here. At least, not as severely (I don't think +/- 5 or more lbs day to day is very good for me given my normal "focused" fluctuations were more like +/- 0.2-1.5lbs depending on sodium intake and hormones).
05/08 - DNP
05/09 - Very happy to be down and didn't expect this much of a drop (or to meet goal so soon!) Busy busy day yesterday and did not get to post. Almost didn't get a chance to weigh in, either. Went to an equine therapy place (I love being around animals), had a very large lunch, and last night was leftover night. Didn't eat but a small handful of chips because my stomach still full-hurt from lunch. Got my fitbit yesterday and I feel normal again. So happy. Upgraded, too, so when I go for walks or try running, I can watch my real-time pace. Now to be good through the weekend and stay under goal! Feeling pretty motivated so hopefully that will carry me through.
05/10 - DNP
05/11 - All good, TOM is on its way and I'm holding on to water weight. Keeping myself busy with work now that BF is out of the house (him and his best friend [we help watch their kids so they're part of who we are social distancing with] took the day off to go target practice) Hoping that staying busy will keep me from overeating or mindlessly boredom eating. Depending on how work is, I may take the dog for a walk. She's a handful to walk with, but it'll be good for us both.
05/12 - TOM did arrive and took some water weight with. Probably would've taken more, but the shooting range the boys went to yesterday is closed on Mondays. So they signed up for a local wine club in town and decided to pick us up girls and take us to 2 wineries for wine tastings (because of COVID, its members only and only 1 tasting per visit, versus the normal 2 or 3). I know very little about wine, and this was my first time at a winery ever, but we are trying to build a stock at the house so the tastings are nice -- lots to learn, especially living in the Napa Valley of Texas. I've counted 26 wineries in town and I know I haven't seen them all. Then the best friend and his wife (fam) made homemade quesadillas with some fajita meat that was about to go bad if not used. Too much cheese for me! Don't know of plans today, but maybe I'll get a chance to take the dog out later for a walk. Raining right now so we will have to be patient. If rain stops, it'll also be a good opportunity to try to salvage a pretty flower I got that apparently cannot survive in a pot -- ground will be wet and moveable after a couple weeks of 90+ degrees and no rain.
edit: I just looked at the weather -- rain and thunderstorms almost daily until the 22nd and scattered throughout today. Maybe the walk with the dog will have to be postponed.
05/13 - I have no idea.... besides maybe a handful of tortilla chips and a fairly salty tasting side dish? I stuck to small portions but maybe the salt did it? I'm getting worried I now won't get to goal or below before end of round. Hoping today is better. Definitely drinking more water to help flush the salt and remaining TOM water weight. All I want is a nap and I just woke up (in the middle of a dream, too! Hello all-day grogginess)
05/14 - That's surprising! Was invited to partake in a homemade spaghetti bake with homemade garlic bread and cucumber tomato salad a friend made. Tried to portion it, but given it was a bake, it was very hard to get the noodles to cooperate. Considered seconds but glad I did not give in! That's a mini NSV for me (and for BF as he considered seconds as well but ended up not getting it). Figured I'd still be up, especially the way my belly looks (bloated and really squishy -- yesterday it was like that, too, and I was way up). Maybe the rain will hold off (last night weather changed its predictions from 60% chance to 20% chance!) and I can go for a walk. BF has to go help someone pick up a vehicle in a town 2 hours away so he'll be gone for a short bit-- if it works out with my meetings, I'll go for a nice walk (: Need to do something about this crazy squishy belly bloat, its really got my self confidence down. Especially since I've been higher weight with a smaller belly. Ick! Pushing water again today since I'm really slacking at getting even close to my water goal.

05/06 …..204.9….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
05/07 …..208.8 ….. Another jump up on the scale from the carbs (restaurant) during yesterday’s business travel. I got the special order of indoor/outdoor carpet picked up for the cabins. It is only available for a very limited time due to Michigan weather so I am thrilled to have gotten it in time and when things are slow enough to have it installed (soon I hope). Even though I am an essential business that supports other essential workers, things have really slowed down. General travel (just for vacation or fun) has been cancelled thru the mandates since March 23. The mandate in Michigan (for the national emergency) is due to expire May 28th, unless extended again. In my area, all summer events have been cancelled. All the money makers and all the things that bring tourists to my community (which will kill my motel business!) However, I do understand that those in my small little town just want to put a wall around it and keep everybody from the cities out. I get it but financially it is difficult. Yesterday in the big city many customers were not wearing masks even though it has been mandated to do so in stores and public places. I would say about 25% had no masks and I was shocked so many of the stores allowed it, including a walmart! It was a very long day. I tried to make a few stops and walk around a bit. My diet was completely off. Today I will be back to normal. Sorry Carbs, Sorry Sodium I will be flushing you away today!
05/08 …..207.2 ….. Goodbye travel bloat! Yesterday had very little movement due to working on electronic downloads and ordering with someone more “expert” than me to help. It was an all-day process. Diet was on point and I was surprised to find no major extra hunger or cravings after a travel day that included extra carbs. That really helped make it much easier to stay on point. Today is more electronic stuff including new downloads to the visa/mc machine which will keep me on the phone awhile for instructions and imputing. I will try to move as much as I can in-between. Snow today in Michigan! Cold & gloomy outside so I will have to pull the ski-machine out again to burn a little. If I can fit in a dance or a Zumba, I will. Have a nice weekend everyone!
05/09 …..204.8 ….. Okay, there goes the rest of the water retention and bloat from the travel. It took two full days, but I’m back to pre-travel weight. I plan on pre-logging food, doing some prep cooking today for the freezer and FINALLY getting some movement back in again, although it will all probably be indoors due to more snow and cold/freezing temps. It’s supposed to be Spring for Goodness Sakes in Michigan! In no way can we plant yet. I can’t WAIT for flowers!
05/10 …..205.2 ….. My 60th Birthday!!!! Happy Birthday to me! So nice that it lands on Mother’s Day this year. A good day yesterday except for the freshly baked banana nut bread my daughter dropped off (wearing her mask of course). We have not been able, still yet, to get flour in our area so this was a nice treat (she had bought in bulk before covid-19). The calories stayed under, the carbs were over but it was worth it. Very moist. So there is an uptick on the scale. Even with my double holiday, I will try to keep it reasonable today. I don’t want to permanently wipe out any progress I am making. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!
05/11 …..205.1 ….. I am posting late because I have been outside cleaning out the barn & storage area. This will be a multi-day project which includes hired help. I’m hoping all my hard work will show up on the scale tomorrow!
05/12 …..205.1 ….. I will be working in the barn again today. I realized that going through totes and boxes does not include much walking but I sure was on my feet a long time yesterday and I anticipate the same today. I kept the calories good yesterday but the choices included carbs that were a bit high and sodium I didn’t really need. Today, no matter how busy I stay, I will try to choose healthier options to keep all the macros in line.
05/13 …..205.1 ….. Exactly the same weight which kind of surprised me. I worked so hard on barn cleaning yesterday. A ton of lifting and sorting. I am very sore today! Finally a beautiful day here with no snow. Temp to reach high of 60 today and no freezing temps tonight so off to the nursery I go with hired help to choose hundreds of flowers (600-1000) to plant for my home and my business too! Lots of work to do today so the calorie burn should be good. The trip to the nursery, however, will eat up about 4 hours of my time due to the travel, but I should get a lot planted this evening. Tomorrow is rain so back to work inside the barn for me tomorrow! Maybe this stagnant scale will finally move!
05/14 …..205.0 ….. I was hoping for a bigger drop. Yesterday I was gardening all evening after the long trip to the closest nursery. About 50% of the flowers were planted. All the weeds pulled and the dairy doo put down too. Today is cold and rainy so we will be working inside the barn to try and finish that project. I think tomorrow should be better weather, we should be able to finish the flower planting. Today I woke up starving (after days and days of extra hard work). I probably ate too many carbs for one meal so I am going to watch the carbs and calories more carefully for the rest of this very long day. It should be okay.
05/15 …..204.3 ….. Yay!!! Finally a good show on the scale as my hard physical work continues with the barn cleaning and the flower planting/gardening. This inspires me to stay on track! It is going to be a beautiful day here after more rain last night. The birds are chirping and the work awaits. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Round 113 - May 7 to 17
Female, 5’, 67 years. SW – 168.4 GW – 167 or lower, UGW – 140.
Goals: continue with 12 hr. IF, 5-6 glasses of water a day (I drink lots but it tends to be tea. I limit the black/green to 4 lg. mugs), complete my tracking every day and get some kind of outdoor exercise unless it is raining – in which case indoors. Did not do well on the exercise or IF the last couple of rounds and it shows – a steady creep up.
Day/Weight/Comment
05/07 – 168.4 – This is the most I have ever weighed, period. I am retaining water as my newly sized rings are suddenly tighter and my whole system seems slowed down. It may be that my thyroid meds. need changing but I have been the same dose for about 35 years. So first I’m going to just try drinking lots of water and walking. I have not been great on IF the last week but am quite sure I’m been within maintenance cals.
05/08 – 169.2 – This is crazy. I actually changed the battery in the scale because I couldn’t believe it. Tracked cals. and was under maintenance, IF 12 hrs. and did 20 mins. exercises. Supper was a little salty but something we eat regularly and haven’t noticed a bounce before. Yesterday was rainy but today beautiful so will be working outside.
05/09 – 169 – Tracked all (rather late) and was just at maintenance because of mango and hot choc. in the evening. Think I may have figured out cause of my water retention – black licorice. I don’t eat it often but every once in a long while get a craving for it. I ate about ½ a package in 3 days. I wonder if the craving is because my blood pressure is low because it both raises blood pressure and causes water retention as well as depleting potassium. Anyhow, staying away from it and ate some banana with frozen hascap berries.

05/11 – 168.8 - Nice Mothers’ Day yesterday – a lot of time on the phone. I hear from my 4 girls regularly but the 2 boys it tends to only be special days. Did not log at all yesterday but noted on Sat. that I was just at maintenance. So going to focus on tracking this next 6 days. Beautiful weather here so a major push this week to get the yard in shape for listing our house. Real Estate here seems to be up, much to our surprise. Maybe a reaction to people wanting to get out of the big city?
05/12 – 168.6 – No IF but did track cals. Kept in maintenance even though I snacked in the evening. Did about 4 hrs. yard work but didn’t count the calories as I think MFP allows way too much for it. I did about 1 hr. that involved some digging and the rest was just sitting cleaning up perennials. I did go for a 20 min. evening walk on some of our steeper streets. Haven’t done that in a long while – so out of shape but a lovely evening.
05/13
05/14 – 167.8 – Nice surprise. Tracked until supper and then was in too much of a hurry to get back outside. I’m guessing calories were maintenance or just under. Yard work all afternoon and evening till it got too cold. May tends to be rainy/showery here so it’s ‘get stuff done’ whenever the rain stops. When I came in cold and tired figured I needed a little snack and hot chocolate. At least I’m not too sore on the arms after all my digging out grass.
05/15 – 167.4 – Another day of digging and not doing so great in the evening. Today, more digging if it doesn’t rain and IF in the evening so I can get the whole benefit of my hard work. Also did some stretches this am to help balance things out.

05/07 - 64.4kg, happy with that, yesterday was fine and I had plenty of walking.
05/08 - 64.3kg, I got a msg yesterday that I hadn't eaten enough! So useful, thanks MFP :-)
05/09 - 64.1kg, nothing new, just the same old, 16,000 steps a day, just over 1,000 calories eaten a day
05/10 - 64.1kg, a plateau! Probably a good thing, wouldn't want to lose too fast ;-)
05/11 - 64.1kg, so stuck! But it's better than a bounce to the upside.
05/12 - 64.0kg, should I eat more? Is my metabolism slowing down?
05/13 - 64.7kg, yay! At last a drop. - **edited** to report 63.7kg
05/14 - 63.6kg, noticed the mispost yesterday. The weight's dropping so fast I lose track, ha ha

I"ve been gone for about two years. I’ve been back at this for 1 week and lost 5 pounds. I know it won’t continue at that pace but it’s nice to have the reinforcement that I know how to do it.
Food diary is open. I'm working with delivered food from the community we live in and what we can order from the grocery store.

05/13 262.8 208 1900 steps. Had a tele-appointment with an endocrinologist today. She gave me a fasting target of 130 and a two-hours-post-meal target of 180. She’s also changing my drugs.

70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Then I had hip surgery March 10th. Recovery is slow. Sure do want to be back walking!
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.

Round 100 SW 245
Round 112 SW 242 (4/27/20)
Round 113 SW 238.6
Goals worked well last round, so I will continue them for one more: Walk at least 20 minutes every day, log food, avoid sugar and alcohol and the usual empty calories, take my meds every day on schedule, and drink my water. With those goals, my target weight for this cycle is 236.
05/07 Weight 238.8; Goals - walk: yes, 90 minutes; food: yes, 500 calories under; empty calories: 200, could have done better; med: yes; water: yes, 8.
05/08 Weight 238.4; Goals- walk: yes, 65 minutes;food: yes, 500 calories under; empty calories 250 too many; meds: yes; water: yes, 8. Stayed within my calories, but dinner was mediocre pizza from a local restaurant. Really disappointing, and I physically feel bloated and lousy. It's going to be below freezing tonight, so my morning walk may or may not take place tomorrow. Let's see how the weight and blood sugar look in the morning.
05/09 Weight 236.6; I am highly suspicious that this is a scale prank, we'll find out tomorrow. But even if it is tease it is very nice to see! Blood sugar was excellent (for me) this morning, 86. Goals - walk: yes, 90 minutes; log food: yes, 500 under; empty calories: FAIL. Too many, I am getting sloppy on this again; meds: yes; water: yes, 10 so far.
05/10 Mothers Day was strange and it disrupted a lot of the routine. Spent a good deal of time standing in my mother's, and then later my step-mother's, front yards social distancing and visiting. Early dinner was take out Chinese food, at my wife's request. It was my only meal of the day and it STILL almost busted my calories. Weight 236.6; Goals - walk, no, first miss on this in weeks; log food: yes, under but just barely; empty calories: not many; meds: yes; water: 9.
05/11 Beautiful day for a walk! Weight 236.6; blood sugar this morning: 89; Goals - walk: yes, 80 minutes; log food: yes, 500 under; empty calories: 140; meds: yes; water: 11 so far.
05/12 Weight 236.2; blood sugar this morning 89; Goals - walk: yes, 30 minutes; log food: yes, but misjudged it, went 200 calories over. ugh. empty calories: NONE - no snacks. meds: yes; water: yes,9.
05/13 Weight 235.8, which is better than my goal for the week!; sugar was 75 this morning; Goals - Walk: yes, 48 minutes at a faster pace than usual. I was pushing it to see how quickly I could finish 3.2 miles; log food: yes, just below target; empty calories: 145; meds: yes; water: 9 and counting.
05/14 Great day for me! Weight 234.8 (!) blood sugar was 100 this morning; Goals - Walk: yes, 80 minutes / 4 miles; log food: yes, 370 under; empty calories: too many, old habits die hard; meds: yes; water: yes, 10.
05/15 Weight 235.2, had to bounce sooner or later, blood sugar this AM 100; Goals - Walk: yes, 70 minutes; log food: yes, 350 under; empty calories: about 200; meds: yes; water: yes, 11.

High stress day. Most of them are these days. No workout. Diet not good quality but managed to stay under calories. I really enjoyed the feeling of losses last round, Will be working majority of days this round which usually makes it easier to control calories but harder to work out, so we’ll see. Yoga is really helping me with my shoulder mobility. I used to have to stretch a while before I could raise my right arm overhead and now most of the time I can do it without stretching! Feel like my pants are a little looser.
05/08: 237.4.
I find it weird how I can go for several days without a 0.1 pound change in either direction. Jazzercise 20 min. Yoga 35 min. Today is my 15th day of logging, which may be an all time personal record LOL.
05/09: 237.4.
I’ve been eating all the calories MFP allots me including for exercise. I know what it is allowing for exercise is in no way accurate, how could it be. As much as I am enjoying those extra calories it’s not allowing the scale to budge, sadly. Went a little crazy today eating takeout pizza and eating my feelings. Will probably have a gain tomorrow but I’ll be back on the horse. No workout.
05/10: 238.8. Cardio (Shape) 27 min. Yoga 35 min.
05/11: 238.8 Really surprised I didn’t have a gain today. Cardio (Shape) 27 min. Yoga 35 min. Back to work today after 8 weeks. Happy that I came home and worked out.

Nutrition is pretty atrocious this week. Gone for work from 7:15a-9:15p
05/14: 238.8.
Back to work and putting in extremely long hours this week. Need to accept that if I don’t gain this round it will be an accomplishment. Hoping for and expecting more balance next week.
05/15: DNW.
Debating whether to even post this since work has taken over my life while my workplace preps to reopen Monday. I have the next two days off, so I really want to weigh, track, and work out without allowing any stagnation or gains to give me an excuse to quit. There are going to be weeks (rounds) like this for me and that’s ok. I don’t want to quit and that gives me hope that I will succeed eventually. I think the act of writing this mini health diary for this group is helping me.

Previous days:
05/07 157.6 (+7.2) 12.318 steps, 6km walk. I used my lowest weight from a few rounds ago although I’ve been weighing every couple of days since. My weight has been up and down since lockdown but definitely always a little bit more up. Asides from lockdown which is such a big problem, I’ve still also got this hip pain for which I was supposed to go for a scan before lockdown. Now I can walk (not too much) and I can cycle. Life won’t realistically get back to normal for months and I now realise how much I counted on being active and exercise as a weight loss (and sanity) tool. I’m still adapting to the new situation. Food is also an issue as prices have gone up, as a one income household I already found it a squeeze to buy all veggies and fresh food, now it’s really a problem. It’ll take time to get used to this but I’m sure we’ll all get there eventually
05/08 157.6 (-0.0) 10296 steps, 4km walk. Not surprised that I didn’t loose anything yesterday. I was within calories but only with the added walk benefit, I ate too much at lunch time and thinking of fasting for the rest of the day but didn’t make it. But this time I planned all todays meals in advance, including snacks, now I just have to stick with it. I’ll try and get a bike ride done today, I’m soooo tired! My daughter hasn’t slept well since the beginning of lockdown… she says she’s scared of the story of the bogeyman which she’s just discovered, I think it’s more this weird situation that’s coming out, she’s 11. I’ve been going on 4-5hrs of sleep for the last 2 months, feels like having a new born again lol
05/09 157.0 (-0.6) no steps, I didn’t even put on my garmin, just exchausted lol But happy to see at least a little loss even though I didn’t do any exercise, tiredness got the best of me yesterday and I didn’t do anything. Next week my daughter will stay at her fathers for a few days and I’ll be able to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Today I don’t have that much planned, maybe a bike ride or a walk, I have to plan my daily meals yet this morning and do some cleaning. Tomorrow my father is coming over for a Sunday Roast for the 1st time since lockdown, and then we’ll take some distance again as my daughter will be going back to school 2 days a week and we don’t want to take any risks. Ok, so it's just past 7am here, going to be my day started by putting on my step tracker and doing some steps with a "walk at home" on YouTube Hope you all have a good day !
05/10 157.0 (0.0) 13.551 steps, 9km walk. Yesterday was a good day, even without any weight loss. It was a lovely day and I went for a long walk in the afternoon. My daughter has started her horse riding lessons again and the stables are outside of town in a lovely area with villages, parks, lakes and forests. It was so nice to get out of the city for a walk, something we haven’t been able to do for 2 months. Today the weather is supposed to turn rainy with a high wind warning, but I’m hoping it’ll happen late enough in the afternoon that I can go for a quick bike ride beforehand. Shops are re-opening this week, I'm wondering if I can take my daughter clothes shopping, she's gone through a growth spurt and asides from some extra warm winter leggings and pullovers which we bought in February nothing fits. It's going to be interesting that's one thing for sure!
05/11 157.0 (0.0) Status quo. It was Mother’s Day here in Belgium yesterday so I had a nice family meal and some delicious chocolate cake for dessert. My father came over for lunch, we stayed with masks on just in case except for eating of course when he sat at one end of the table and us at the other, it was a bit weird! His health isn’t good in general so we’re minimizing risks. Bad weather hit mid-morning so there was no question of going out anywhere for the whole day. I avoided the fridge for the rest of the day and had a plate of leftover vegetables for dinner. All in all, a good day, yet again even without any loss, because more is up as we can go outside a little more now. Today is a busy day and I’m even going into the office for a couple of hours later. Taking the bike as well 😊
05/12 156.4 (-0.6) not a lot of steps but more than 1000 cal left over due to extra cycling. Gosh what a difference having a busy day does, I was out most of the day which was so nice and didn’t think of food at all. I went to the office, we’re not reopening till mid-June probably, everything is going on as normal for us with videoconferences although everyone is looking forward to going back to normal. Today I’m planning a 2h walk while my daughter is at her horse-riding lesson. We’ll see later if we feel like doing anything in the afternoon. Have a good day all 😊
05/12 157.6 (+1.2) 10472 steps, 8km walk, not sure at all where that gain came from, in fact weighed myself twice as I thought I had misread … Well it’s another day today and the highlight today is that it’s food shopping day. I’ve planned my meals for a week and it all looks healthy, I’ll get extra fruit and stuff for snacks. No exercise planned today as I woke up with an arthritis flare my joints are stiff and achy
05/13 156.0 (-1.6) rest day. As I said yesterday, I had no idea where that gain had come from and I’m very happy to see it disappear overnight with a little extra! I’ve still some pain in joints and general tiredness so it’ll probably be another rest day today. This morning I had an early rheumatologist appointment for my quarterly check-up, he had a look at the pain in my hip I have every time I try to run, it seems I’ve done something to the sacroiliac joint and I need an MRI to see what the problem is exactly, I don’t think I’ll be able to run any time soon, thank goodness I can still use my bike! Yesterday I went shopping and bought lots of healthy food to nibble on.
05/15 156.0 (0.0) rest day, 1250 cal. Yesterday was a nice restful day, I cooked healthy foods (vegetable and beans dish for lunch and tofu stir fry for dinner). The arthritis flare is nearly finished so tomorrow I’ll do some exercise. For lunch I have planned leftover beans and vegetables dish from yesterday and I’m then grilled fish and grilled vegetables for dinner. I’m at last getting consistent again about logging my food, even if it’s taken me nearly the whole round to get back to doing this
05/16 155.2 (-0.8) That was a surprise this morning, especially as I had cereal during the middle of the night as I couldn’t sleep and was still looking at the ceiling at 3am, but I had been very good during the day, lots of protein and veggies, few carbs It ends this round on a good loss which is really motivating for the next round. I’ll try and do as well today, I only slept a few hours and tiredness always makes me crave carbs! I’m stressing about my daughter going back to school Monday, her school year being the 1st allowed back in our country, later I'm going to pick up a few extra cloth masks for her, also going to get some saddle bags for my bike that I ordered. This afternoon I'm going for a bike ride with a friend. Hip is aching so it'll be an easy ride!
