How much bodyfat is in a lb? If you lose 5lbs, do you lose 2-3% bodyfat?

Also, how quickly can a person lose bodyfat? Is it 1-2% per week?

Thank you,
Ryan.

There is no one right answer. Person A is going to lose a certain amount of fat when they lose a pound. Person B may lose a different amount. It's going to depend on a variety of factors, including activity, diet, and current body weight.

There is also no one right answer to how quickly a person can lose fat. Again, it's going to depend on the above factors.

I don't know that there is an answer to the first question really- maybe there's an average out there? It's obviously going to vary and if a person is weight training/macro counting to slow down LBM vs someone who is only in a calorie deficit, then I imagine that would impact things.

To the second question, I've heard that in the average scenario, a persons body can metabolize about 1% body fat lost per week. For people who have a lot to lose I hear this is number can be a bit higher but I don't have the numbers on that.

The recommendation for fat loss is 1/2-1% week. Body fat loss will be determined by how much muscle you have and can retain.
