I'll start... attempted to make banana bread yesterday and overmixed the batter. Got a Banana BRICK instead.

This is a judgement-free zone. What do ya got?

I didn't know that wax paper can't go in the oven. Filled the kitchen with black smoke, and set off all the smoke detectors in the house.

Adding, it was my sad attempt at making kale chips.

I spent a good 4 hours deep cleaning my house before I started meal prepping.
Went to meal prep. And dumped an entire 10 lb bag of rice over onto my freshly mopped kitchen floor.

The first rst time I used my Instant Pot to cook frozen chicken breasts I dumped the chicken into the pot, not realizing that part of the packaging had stuck frozen to the breasts. It wasn't until the meal was fully cooked...chicken, pasta, and sauce, all together...that I discovered a what looked like a panty liner in the pot. It was the part of the packaging placed u der the meat to absorb some of the liquid.

This happened just over a week ago, so it's fresh in my memory. I am sure I have had numerous other disasters over the years.

When I was on a big health kick a few years back, made a green smoothie with mustard greens and pear. I had no clue how poignant mustard greens are...

This is going to be really weird, but..

Back in Zoology class in school we had an “invertebrate food” day. So naturally I decided to make mealworm cookies to show my love to all my fellow classmates. The recipe said to freeze them to death. Seriously. So I put them in the freezer still in the container with all the straw because I didn’t want to touch those things.

After they’d been in the freezer, I start removing them, with tweezers onto a baking pan. I get halfway finished and the first ones on the pan start to crawl around. I freaked out. Luckily mealworm cookies isn’t a part of my normal cooking. 🤷‍♀️

I once set the oven preheat to 375 when it should have been 400.

    Those were dark times.

    Sad, sad story

...it was my 23rd b-day, I was home alone - so decided to bake myself a cake!...a layer cake!
bought 2 cake mixes, chocolate and banana and lots of icing (I'm all about the icing!)

I was on a vegan kick - so I ignored the eggs in the recipe.

cakes cooked ok - but I don't know if if didn't let them cool enough, or it was the lack of eggs...went to frost them and they just crumbled apart and made an unsightly disaster of roughed up cake and icing

I was so upset, and alone - with a crumbled up cake - happy *kitten* 23rd to me
    🎻, I know!

My sister did the same thing! And it’s def bc it was not cool enough. So essentially she frosted the crumbles anyway and then my mother made another ‘proper cake’. Tbh I liked the crumble cake better

I made beet soup, and wanted to purée it - put it into the blender and...the top knobby part of the lid wasn't on right I guess?

...thankfully beets on the ceiling are hard to miss while cleaning it up?

I once tried to make lemonade and I turned on the hot water faucet instead of the cold.

I had to wait for the water to cool.

    It was horrible.

When I was in high school I decided to try making microwave fudge. No problem, except that I used my mom's Tupperware to cook it in. After disposing of the fudge and melted Tupperware, I put the lid back in the cupboard like nothing happened!

Another time I tried to see what was cooking in the pressure cooker without relieving the pressure first. That was explosive!

My parents left me alone when I was a kid, think I was like 6 or something. Mum said "there is some soup in the fridge and you can just microwave it for dinner". Not knowing the metal and the microwave do not like each other I just shove the whole metal soup pot in there and nuke it. My Dad had a mini meltdown.

^ That reminds me of the movie Matilda. You should have made pancakes instead, haha!

My Last kitchen fail was heating up some coffee on the stove, forgetting about it, until my entire pan was black char on the bottom and ruined....I've recently bought a microwave!

    Nutella brownies..

I didn’t have enough eggs so I substituted with baking powder but I guess the eggs is what keeps it from falling apart?

    I ate it same way.
