Hello

I am back after two years. At that time I was losing weight and although not losing weight very quickly I was still going in the right direction.
Then I lost my job and little by little my life got complicated. Because I was no longer on my medication weight loss became inpossible and the weight slowly crept on until I gained all that I had lost plus. ( We all know how that is) Also my dad battled Cancer and I became his caregiver along with being the PCA for my handicapped brother. I am now working part time in the family retail store which afords me the ability to take off whatever time I need to help out my family but it has left me without alot of "me" time and my appearence show it.
This week I went to the Dr. for a full physical and I started my medication again. I will be going back in 6-8 weeks to recheck and fine tune the dosage.
SO.... no more excuses it is time, I am a 52 year old woman who NEEDS to lose 100 lbs or more to get to a healthy weight.
I have found that for me, I need to be accountable. The logs and the weekly weigh in's with other people is good for me but I don't think paying someone for my hard work is for me. (sorry to all of the weight loss clinics)
I used this site before and lpved it so I am back looking for the support I found here two years ago.
Can you help keep me motivated?
Thanks

So it takes about a year to safely lose 100 lbs . . . I should know as I've been on my journey for about 7 months. With some surgery last year, and a tropical holiday this spring I was derailed a bit . . . so it will take me about 14 or 15 months to get to my goal.
It hit me a number of months ago that I could either just keep doing what I've been doing and be in exactly the same place in a year, or I could actually put more priority on ME and change my life in that year.
I chose to work on me and am now 1/2 way to my goal.
Some days are hard but over the months something inside me changed, Im more positive now, and cravings for sweets have subsided (you need to go cold turkey on this to get this out of your system for cravings to dissipate).
Instead of dreading the annual family reunion wondering if I would be one of the heaviest women Im actually looking forward to it. I actually put on a bathing suit in public and swim weekly . . . I feel like a different person now.

Im sending you a friend request because just like me it sounds like you could use a good support system to keep cheering you on!

    Welcome back to MFP!

Hey everyone, I am new to fitnesspal but not new to health and nutrition. I have been on a weight loss journey for 3 1/2 years and I am finally kicking it in high gear and getting the results I have been longing for. People ask me all the time for advice and they want to change until they realize how hard it is. Let me tell you, if it wasn't hard, we wouldn't have an obese problem in the nation. It is worth the effort. You deserve to be healthy and be there for your family for a long time. They need you as much as you need them. I am no one special, I am just someone who was obese for most of her life and decided to get healthy. I have lost 175 pounds and in the best shape of my life. I can honestly say I love myself and mean it, can you? I hope so cause I know the pain of not loving yourself. Be proud! "EMBRACE THE JOURNEY"

Hey bkrbabe57! Welcome back. . .today is my first day back to the MFP site in probably a year or more. I too had been so on track with losing and in the last couple months I quit being so strict with tracking and exercising and now I have gained about 20 lbs back. So I totally understand how easy it is to let it creep back on so let's re-start this lifelong journey together!!! Best of luck to you & anytime you need motivation, support, encouragement or just a sounding board, I'm here for you. I know how important a good support network is for me personally!
