Ive recently started walking and downloaded my fitness pal & MapMyWalk. Im using MapMyWalk to count my steps also. Im walking roughly just over 10k a day & roughly 15k steps. For example i walk 10k & says ive burned x amount of calories then it says ive done 15ksteps and burnt another lot of calories in affect doubling the calories ive burnt, so should i just use MapMyWalk for exercise & iphone to track steps as that doesnt add extra calories wheras using MapMyWalk gives me extra calories for walking 10k plus calories to use for walking 15k steps. Im trying so hard and dont want to eat extra calories if I haven’t earned them.

What's your activity level? There's some # of steps that MFP thinks you already do, that it's already giving you calories for.
Steps don't seem to work terribly well unless they're sent over from a paired app or device. You can add them manually, if you're worried about double counting you can subtract out the calories you already get for your activity level before adding manually.0
