Ready to dive into a 5:2 fasting.

Hello people,
I have done my research, ordered my groceries and from tomorrow I will take a shot at the 5:2 fasting. I believe that it is suitable to me since I only have to worry about two days and just eat normally the other 5 (I am not into everyday sweets and junk food so I qm relatively safe).
Any tips from anyone?
Or anyone following the same olan that we can become friends chat and exchange experiences and tips??

My tip is to experiment with 5:2 fasting but do not consider it an important thing to do. You can lose weight doing 5:2 but you can lose weight doing hundreds of other systems too.

Completely agree - the task (weight loss for health) is important, the tool selected just helps people make it easier.
And with 5:2 it's probably quite a niche tool that suits some (like me!) and doesn't suit many.

On top of the weight loss success I learned some useful things about myself and my eating habits but that's not unique to 5:2.

Yes I know there hundreds of diets out there but I think this one is the one I should be trying. It seems like it is quite healthy too especially compared to the Keto trend and the chemical ones. Can you give me an example of what you learned?

Yeah, I hope it works for you.

I was grumpypants and went back to 1500 daily for my weight loss. When I exercised it was 1800, and that's quite a lot of food if done mindfully. I lost most of my 80 pounds at that amount. I'm an older, retired woman 5'7".

I am a little bit worried about the grumpiness too, but for now I went through some list of foods that are very low carb so that I can consume a lot to try and trick my head into it. Things like mushrooms, beetroots, lettuce, tomatoes etc. We will see how it goes.

I learned what true hunger feels like and it's not actually the imperitive I used to think.
Which is linked to that I eat for many reasons beyond hunger and actual need - I just plain really enjoy good tasty food. Plus social eating, plus eating because I'm bored plus eating because it was time to eat.....

If I stop to think why I'm staring into the fridge or the snack cupboard often the reason isn't hunger!
Having a tight budget did make me take stock of my habits.

Volume of food was another learning - more of something isn't actually as satisfying or enjoyable as a smaller amount of really well prepared tasty food. I eat with my eyes and taste buds and not just for fuel or to fill my stomach.

Reinforced my personality is to be extremely focussed and determined short term but I get bored by routine, a fixed 7 day a week food allowance would rapidly make me miserable and destroy my motivation.

Breakfast for me is very optional, I like it but don't need it. That's an easy calorie saver for me in weight maintenance when the scales start to creep upwards.

I can exercise fasted or fed with no performance detriment up to about 2hrs after a period of acclimatisation, gives me more freedom to eat when I want to.

Thank you so much for your input, it has been truly valuable. I will start and try to take note of differences and reactions to my new eating habits, I will also put effort in the food I am cooking so that I get something tasty and nutritious.

Just because it was mentioned a couple of times, as far as I'm aware, there's no requirement to be low carb on your two low calorie days.

admittedly if I were to prioritize anything on a five or 600 calories day, it would most certainly be protein, at least to RDA levels, if not more.
