Advice and encouragement needed

Hi all!
I started MFP on May 4th. It's been a little under 3 weeks and I'm starting to get a little down on myself. I lost 3lbs the first week. I'm eating 1200 calories (I'm 4'10), started cooking, cut out junk food, soda, etc. I've been working out 5x a week (mostly HIIT workouts involving resistance bands and kettlebells) for at least 30 minutes. Maybe I'm expecting too much of myself or have unrealistic expectations (most likely this), but I was hoping to see more weight loss by this point. I started at 130.6 and now I've been hovering around 127.2 the past two weeks. I'm not really sure if its normal to plateau like this? Any advice is welcome. I'm very new to all this. Much appreciated!

Hey girl! Honestly, if you’re weight training (resistance bands & kettlebells) I wouldn’t focus too much on the scale. It’s better to take progress photos because any weight you’re gaining in muscle will throw off any weight you’re losing in fat scale-wise. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you’re doing great!!3

You don't have much to lose, and your on the petite side, so you should not be expecting to lose more than 1 lb per week.
It's also normal for new exercise or new activity level to cause some water weight swings.
And it's also normal to have a week or two here and there where the scale doesn't move.
So yes,it's mostly expecting too much too soon

I feel your pain, I kickstarted again on May 4th, and after losing a bunch of weight the first week, I've been losing and gaining the same 2lbs for the last two weeks... LOL. So while AVERAGED over three weeks I'm doing great, the last week has been VERY frustrating. But it's better than gaining at the rate I was, so I'm taking the win and plugging on. I do need to remember to do measurements because I've taken up swimming 3x a week and started the 5x5 strength training program last night - so I need something other than the scale to measure progress on or I'll go nuts.1

Hi there, I think one of the most important things I have learned with sharing is to be patient with your self - you are moving in the right direction and doing good things, just need a little time for things to develop more 😁1
