Hi, lost 9% of body weight . It recommended you stop for 6 month at 10% . Unfortunately still morbidly obese, but not much. Its a tough call to continue. Any suggestions ???

Who recommends stopping? Continue on your weight loss journey, unless your medical doctor gives you a reason to stop at a 10% loss.3

no, do not stop. You need to develop a pattern and good eating habits/portion control, etc.... Stopping just gives you the excuse to go back to your old ways.3

It's recommended by who? If you are morbidly obese, don't stop until you are much closer to a healthy weight.1 -
I’ve never heard that recommendation, not sure where you got it from but it’s not necessary. Some people do take breaks and eat at maintenance for a bit but there’s not reason you have to or should.0

There is an interesting thread about refeeds and maintenance breaks somewhere, maybe someone can post the link.
But stopping for 6 months certainly isn't necessary!1 -

While taking a break after a long time at a deficit can be helpful, I agree 6 months is too much especially if you are still obese. Not sure where you got that information.
I take diet breaks every 8-12 weeks (for 1-2 weeks) but this is only when I get really lean.

I’ve lost 40% in 19 months. If I’d stopped for six months at every 10% , the process would have felt insurmountable.
It’s been slow, steady, forming habits has been critical, and I blow off the occasional misfire or simply adjust somewhere else.
Like this morning, I made deep fried Russian oladi pancakes and have already been hitting the irresistible leftovers. Lunch is avocado toast and an orange @225. Dinner will be simple grilled 1/2 pound of chicken breast and a ton of grilled plain veggies with herbs de Provence @479, and I still have room in my diary for my usual afternoon giant bowl of fruit and a slice of cake & squirt of canned whipped cream after dinner. Unless I hit the oladi leftovers again....it’s nice to have choices. And even if I do go over an oladi or two, those habits I’ve formed will stand me in good stead tomorrow and the day after.
No, there’s NO WAY I could do a six month intermission.2
