Hi,
Going to start Gamma next week, for those who have done Gamma, is it better to do Pure Gamma or the hybrid strength calendar?
Thanks

Have you done alpha and beta? If yes, then you can probably go right in to the hybrid. If not, then go for pure gamma first. I have the gamma set now, but not actually running the program as written.0

Yes we are on the last week of Beta now having done the whole lot 5 years ago.
I've read some saying Pure Gamma I'd harder, but then the calendar suggests you'll be stronger using the Hybrid. My goal is straight from this to either P90x3 or Athlean X. Working on pull up strength at the moment as well as 3x push up max per day.0 -
There are pullups(if you have a pull-up bar) and pushups in gamma. What do you mean 3x max per day?
I'd say what is lacking is leg and glute work. The weights they use just aren't heavy enough for lower body. I find myself scrambling between weights and having to pause or rewind because they move so fast, but I need more challenging weights for certain exercises.0 -

So I get up in the morning, do a first set of maximum push ups, then wait a bit, 2nd set and 3rd set. So I do the maximum I can do in each set.
I have a door hung pull up bar, so hopefully I can use that. What weight do they use? Could always use a kettle bell for squats?0 -
I wouldn't try to do those max pushups sets before the videos because they already have the pushups in the workout. It is much easier to utilize the pull-up bar if it is attached to the door frame or wall because there is no pause between exercises. Steve just runs over real quick and starts on the bar while everyone else picks up dumbbells. It looks like they use 8-10lb dumbbells or one guy uses the band with handles. Like I said, no pause between anything, just like in alpha and beta...so whatever weights you choose need to be right there to grab. 8-10lbs might be fine for bicep curls or tricep extension, but then to do something like deadlifts with the same weight...seems silly. But that's how it is. Not the best program in my opinion.0

What other programmes have you followed?
With Beta I tend to switch weights, you may miss a rep but it's worth it for heavier squats etc.0 -
For strength? Stronglifts 5x5.0

I did that many years ago when I had access to a gym and in between marathon training, was a good plan, might try it again at some point if I join a gym or buy some weights.0 -
But you have some weights, right? Look up Sydney Cummings on YouTube. She has over 800 videos on her channel. She does mostly strength work and circuit training, but also includes cardio, abs, and stretching.1
