Living with a curmudgeon

Assuming there's no verbal abuse, I tend to give them their space especially if they are older. I'm of the "respect you elders" camp.
I read your post which reminded me of an old School of Life video (which is geared to romantic relationships but has tips which can work in other close relationships too).
Short story: picture them as a 👶🏻

My husband loves to gripe about things. And now we are both at home ALL the time.
He gripes about the neighbors, the neighborhood, our house, politics, culture, etc, etc, etc.
I mainly just use the ignore tactic when he gets on a roll. He doesn’t really want to hear feedback anyways and definitely is not looking for an argument, he just wants to complain.
If I get too annoyed, I go on a walk by myself, or tell him I have some work-from-home stuff to do and shut myself in my home office.
Disclaimer: he really is a loving and wonderful husband...but definitely a curmudgeon. He always has been...I knew what I was getting into.3 -
