"The butt wink"

Do you "but wink" ( hips move from neutral/anterior into posterior tilt) at the bottom of your squat? Its it okay that it happens? I'm just curious about other opinions as I have heard that it's bad and that it doesn't matter.

The newer information I am hearing is that it isn't a big deal. I don't have anything to back that up with, though. Maybe check out Eric Helms, or Brad Schoenfeld, or someone in the weightlifting science arena? See if they've posted any info about it?

I don't think a very mild butt wink is bad, but if it is a major rounding of the spine, you should probably not go so deep. Mine starts to wink at the bottom, I don't push it farther.

Everyone has some degree of lumbar flexion when squatting.

I wouldn't be concerned about it. I would continue to train normally.

Also although I question anybody giving info, I would be hard pressed to follow any info that states a movement is bad or dangerous.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! Mostly I was just curious about what other people thought about it. Personally I don't think its particularly harmful but I do think I should be able to deep squat without it happening. (Currently I cannot but I'm working on it) I don't have good enough hip and ankle mobility or strong enough quadratus lumborums to keep it from happening

I have butt wink when I do back squats (pressure gets transferred to my lower back, which is not good). So I just squat above parallel or I do goblet/front squats.

I would recommend to look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNYRJNDM48I

It isn't a big issue, but when you are progressing in weights it can become a higher risk to injury.
