So I got a food scale and found out I had been VASTLY underestimating my calories. Mostly from bacon. I don’t like crispy bacon. So when I logged “strips of bacon” it gave me the wrong calorie value. I’ve lost 40 pounds in the past year but had hit a plateau. So it was kinda good to find that there might be a reason.

This is something that I think we all have to face up to at some point. Shocker isn't it
But it is good to be honest with yourself. I know I will have to tighten up my logging soon if I want to lose more weight. But at present with the lockdown I decided to maintain and that has been more sucessful than I thought it would be.

People always think they are being super accurate using measuring cups and following what the package says when it gives average amounts like 2 slices or eyeballing what they think seems like the right amount.
There is also a lot of people who are unwilling to accept that their logging is the reason they're hitting a plateau.
Diet culture teaches people a lot of useless things..
Making them think that they hit a plateau because they arent eating enough or that their body is used to their workout routine.. when in reality often times it's simply they are just accidentally eating too much.
This is a good example for all new people to see, that food scales are extremely beneficial for people looking to track as accurately as possible.5
