Macro breakdown (too much Protein?)

I'm working with a trainer who has me on a 2000 calorie diet with 40% protien which is coming to 200g. I weigh abt 140lbs and 5'5" Male. My concern is the protein is way higher than recommended 1g /1lb which is abt 140g per day.. Am I going too high on protein?I'm also vegetarian so can't seem to hit 200g protein without 2 times Protein shakes.
I'm also carb cycling as I'm a targeting 6 packs without bulking (maintaining weight at abt same) so I'm thinking of sticking with abt 140g protein and then cycling the carb/fat on high/low carb days... thoughts?

I think 200 is more than you need. This is a good, evidence-based, generally well-respected source:

They have a link to their own protein calculator, based on that research analysis.
Speaking as a fellow vegetarian of the same height (but 10 pounds lighter, doubtless older, and 100% more female), I believe that vegetarians are better off getting amounts of protein at the higher end of the recommended ranges, for issues of protein quality. At 140g, you'd already be pretty much there.

What Ann said. If you like that much protein, cool. But there is a diminishing rate of benefit above 1 gram per lb of body weight. It is not harmful. But it also has no additional benefit.4

The only thing I’d add is, attempting to recomp to having a 6 pack isn’t really attainable without drugs, once you go below a certain level of leanness recomp is nigh in impossible, @140lb without a six pack you may need to get very lean then a higher amount of protein may be required0
