If you are new to posting on this thread, or if you are new to cycling, we welcome you! If you are returning from a previous thread, we welcome you, too.

This thread is for anyone who rides a bicycle ... or unicycle, tricycle, tandem, etc.

Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? So you ride weekends? Do you spin at home or in the gym? Is Zwift your thing? Do you race crits, ironman, or centuries? Or, are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? However you choose to push your pedal, you are welcome on this thread.

There's no set challenge across participants - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group.
Just pick your own target that you want to achieve this month, post that when you join the thread, and post updates throughout the month as you're working towards your target.

Given the current situation many of us will be cycling solo or indoors ... share your accomplishments with us. :)

First day of the month and time to set myself some cycling goals:
    • Strava climbing challenge for sure as it does encourage me to work on my weakest aspect.
    • More drive/rides for variety and exploring new areas.
    • Step up my hill work from hard (10% 'ish) to very hard (15% +).
    • At least two 100km+ rides.

Not a great start to June as got a mystery flat with no obvious puncture - luckily happened near a friend's house so I got a cuppa while I replaced the tube. Flats are a PITA but at least it happened in a convenient place on an unimportant ride so that's a consolation.

Well, last month I set a 25 mile goal, and I seriously failed to get back in the saddle. Even though I am working through some shoulder, rotator cuff pain, I start OT today, and I should be able to accomplish the goal, considering I am actually starting at the beginning of the month this time.

    GOAL: 25 miles

I’m going to have a work schedule that is all over the place this month, so I’m gonna drop my goal to 250 miles and hope for the best.
First day of the month and I did a 25.5 mile ride, so I’m already 10% down🤘🏼🚲

I got out early today as it is set to get up to 92F - "record breaking heat" per the weatherman this morning - and was able to cross the busy highway to get over to the open country roads, even 1 I hadn't gone down before. Now, in my defense, it WAS at the end of the ride, I was going uphill, into 13mph winds when the huge farm tractor passed me...followed by the delivery truck...followed by the UPS truck....sigh. #tiredlegs

    GOAL: 25 miles

    6/2 - 11.12 miles (11.12 done, 13.88 to go)

Mystery flat seemed to be a manufacturing fault where the valve assembly was vulcanised to the tube.
Tube held air for hours until I manipulated the tube and a tiny pinprick appeared. Tube had done a few thousand miles before failing - very strange!

Got a drive/ride in today as weather is expected to take a downturn here in southern England.

54 mile loop from historic Windsor out into the beautiful Chiltern Hills, lovely views and quiet traffic. Got dehydrated towards the end as it was very hot and sunny, two bottles on the bike and a small bottle in a pocket wasn't close to being enough.

    Welcome here!!

It's winter where I am, so I'll see how I go with outdoor rides. :) Otherwise there will be indoor exercise.

I'm in again! Or I will be, if the apocalyptic rain ever stops :D
At the beginning of the week it was warm and sunny, but I went running instead of cycling. I had a 30km route planned for yesterday - but there was so much rain, they even had to close the highway a few kilometres away from where I live, due to flooding. Today there were a few dry 30min-intervals, but right now it's pouring again...

Anyway, it can't rain forever! I'm actually hoping to increase my distance a bit from last month. 150km maybe? I'll set that as a goal and see if it's doable for me.

@sijomial So jealous! Well, ok, not of the flat, obviously, but of where you are! Southern England is my "happy place", specifically Salisbury. I'm a "hybrid", Mum is from there (born in Oxford, uni @ Cambridge, Hitchen is "home") and was just in Market Harborough in Feb before all the CV-19 hit. Would love to be back there!

    GOAL: 25 miles

    6/2 - 11.12 miles
    6/4 - 6.8 miles (17.92 done, 7.08 to go)

    @dreamer12151

I'm lucky to live near the Surrey Hills and it's a cyclist's playground if rather challenging in terms of climbing. A lot of the roads that feature in the Ride London 100 are local to me.
Salisbury and the surrounding area is lovely - I did a big ride centered around Winchester and Salisbury Plain a few years ago and it was idyllic.

About 50km for me today including a diversion up a hill I'd never tried before - steeper than 10% and a bit of a shock to the legs! I've got some long rides on the schedule for the weekend, then my coach has set me a week of tests (FTP and vo2 max) so I'll be mainly on the turbo for a while.

Does your coach hate you Helen?

Hope the tests aren't too unpleasant.

The worrying thing is that an FTP test actually sounds far more appealing than the session he set me this week - an hour on the turbo at threshold. At least the FTP test is only 20 minutes not 60!

80km for me today, a bit windy so I just rode up the valley and back rather than climbing up onto the tops.

Sat Jun 6th, 2020 -- Bicycle Ride Outside

My husband and I got out for a bicycle ride. It was quite chilly out there, but very little wind which was good. It was only 11.45 km ... I'd like to ride longer, but today that was good enough. My feet were really feeling the cold by the end of the ride.

Still zero cycling miles in June so far but new tubes and tyres arrived yesterday, now fitted and hoping to head out in the morning.

@Machka9 Lovely pictures! I always like riding by the water side.

@AlanKmfp Your bike's looking good! I wish you a good "maiden voyage" with the new tyres!

I finally got my first ride of the month in today. 13km to work, 34.7 km ride home in the afternoon. The way home included a detour, obviously  Down to the river and along the river bank for a bit. The weather was okay-ish: dry in the morning, windy and dry for most of the ride, with a little bit of a drizzle at the beginning of the afternoon; and one heavy but short shower halfway home. I had a rain jacket, but no rain pants; so at the next opportunity I stopped for a coffee and some ice cream long enough to let my jeans dry a bit.

@Machka9 Lovely pictures! I always like riding by the water side.

@AlanKmfp Your bike's looking good! I wish you a good "maiden voyage" with the new tyres!

Thanks Nikkiwolf. Nice photo. Glad you still enjoyed the ride despite the weather.

First ride of June (and first on new tyres) done. 22.32 miles. Bit of a headwind at a few points and weather changeable but still enjoyable. Think I may need to invest in some padded cycle pants though!!

One thing I've noticed whenever I ride is that after maybe 5 miles or so I feel like I'm going to struggle but then after 10 mins or so I pick up and the rest of the ride is fine.

128km today. The first few hours were wet and I never quite warmed up again despite my first bacon sandwich stop for months on a ride. A school friend has a cafe about the right distance away for today's planned 5 hours, and it was her first Sunday of doing takeaway so I rode up there and had a bit of a chat as I waited for my food.

A little cycling luck would be nice......
Found a flat tyre on my best bike - odd as that's a very new tube so need to have a really close look to see if there's something wrong with eithr tyre or wheel.
So took out my spare bike instead intending to stay fairly close to home to try and dodge the frequent showers - got soaked at the furthest point from home of course. Pushed hard for home to stay warm and then a spoke snapped with a couple of miles to go. Tied it to the next spoke and limped home feeling very sorry for myself.
    Should have stayed at home!

Four rides on the road and one off road this week, 110 miles.

Padded cycling pants have helped me immensely, Alan. Some real beautiful spots you guys are riding.
I have been on 6 rides so far this month and have ridden 143.5 miles of my 250 mile goal🚲🤘🏼

Moved back up to WI last year after 30 years in Hell...er, I mean Hades Waiting Room, aka Florida. Never thought that I would be facing the left overs of a tropical storm again, yet, here comes Cristobol...at least I got a ride in before the weather started turning.

Also, seeing that I was able to make my goal for this month, I'll update my monthly goal, 40 miles.

GOAL: 25 miles (Done 6/9) New: 40 miles

    6/2 - 11.12 miles
    6/4 - 6.8 miles (17.92 done, 7.08 to go)
    6/9 - 8.67 miles (26.59 done, 1.50 OVER GOAL)
