Soooo I've been posting on the forum and I missed the introduction section, so I thought I'd pop in and say hi to everyone.
My name is Bobby, shocker right? I'm 27 years and working on getting back into shape. I have a lot of experience with proper nutrition and weight training, ever since high school it had been a big part of my life. Back then our coach gave me and a buddy our own key to the gym on campus, I wasn't in sports but I weight trained with the football team. I'm a complete nerd at heart so half the fun for me is staying current on recent studies and approaching things from a scientific mindset.
I started using the MFP app on my phone because its just so easy to track calories. Really glad I found it because using the food scale with the good ol pen and paper is a pain in the butt. I didn't realize until a few days ago that there is actually a whole community here. I kind of stumbled into it while researching another topic.
I've become heavy for myself over the past few years after suffering a pretty bad back injury. I'm at 227lbs right now, the heaviest I have ever been. Before all this I was a pretty lean 180, I lifted regularly and worked a physical job. I herniated two disks and bulged another 2 in my lower back. Really set me back as far my fitness level is concerned. After a year of PT, pain management therapy, and a lot of gross drugs I was still in pretty crummy shape. It took almost another full year for the crazy spasms to start to go away, it really sucked. It's been a bit past 3 years and I'm finally starting to feel spry again. I've gotten back into running and doing HIIT out on the hill sides and my back has been doing great. Needless to say I'm very pleased.
Now that I feel confident in my abilities again, I am going to start strong lifts 5x5 next week. I miss dead lifting and squatting so much, I'm ecstatic about being able to make it part of my life again. I find it funny that its going to take me months to just get back to where I was at the age of 16, but so is life.
I look forward to becoming a part of the community here. I wish you all the best of luck in reaching your goals as well.
