CALORIES set HIGH

Options
Hi, I’ve been frustrated with how long it’s taking me to lose a simple ten pounds! I set my activity level at very active because I walk about five miles five days a week and chill on sat and sun. I’m 5’10 155 currently and I’m trying to get to around 145 ish. Mfp set my calories at 1790 and with the 500 calories I work off I would end up consuming more than that. Is the problem that I’m eating those calories back and that’s why the weight isn’t budging? So Today I changed my activity level to lightly active and my calories went down to 1400. Now I can eat back calories and finally get somewhere!!! Has anyone encountered this issue?

    It takes some experimenting.

I'm 5'8" retired. I walk about five miles per day, five days a week.

When I was at 160 trying to get to my (now) 140-145, I was set at 1500 PLUS exercise calories. I estimated my exercise calories at 300 on my walking days, so I was eating 1800-1900 on those days.

It took me nine months to lose that last 15 pounds. I was pretty hungry and a lot of days I would eat more like my (now) Maintenance calories of 2300.
