don't know if they're "bad" but I did try them and did not find that they supressed my hunger at all.

    maybe it's just me.

I too have heard a lot of raves about hoodia, but no luck for me.

in fact the only diet pill I ever tried that worked was ephedra! yuk!took it for about 3 mo in 2000 (before all the scary science came out!) and I lost weight quickly and wasn't hungry. It was so nice.

too bad it is so bad for you!

    nononononononono!!

I tried Hoodia for about 10 days & thought i was going to have a heart attack. It really increased my heart rate.

Do it the safe/slow old fashioned way. :flowerforyou:

Hoodia's all natural, it's actually an African cactus, and it just blocks the hunger signals. This can be helpful if your main problem is that you're always hungry; it's not going to help with metabolism or blood sugar or anything like that.

It's important to keep in mind that, while natural products aren't going to have the harsh side effects of pharmaceuticals, everybody does react differently, even to natural things. So if you're going to try something, follow the directions properly and keep an eye on how you're feeling.

Make sure you get the hoodia on its own, not with anything else, unless you're looking for something else, because it does come with other ingredients sometimes, and those other ingredients COULD have side effects. Always do your research.

Just remember, not everything works for everyone, or is good for everyone, so you just have to try it, carefully, and make sure youre consistent with it if you wanna see results.

I tried Hoodia in the liquid form. You put so many drops in your mouth and then drink an entire glass of water. It tasted absolutely horrid. It helped only slightly and wasn't worth the price, I think I paid about $50 for this teeny weeny bottle that only lasted a couple weeks. I wouldn't do it if I were you. I wish I hadn't wasted the money. I have also tried Trimspa with Hoodia before and it worked, but I think the only reason it worked was because I was also on Provigil because I have sleep apnea and those two working together produced results. However, after about two months on them, and losing 30 pounds, I began to get the shakes. I still do get them occassionally. I'm not talking like my hand shaking slightly. I mean like my head and neck having spasms that made me look like I was a coke addict. It was terrible. I have tried about 10 diet pills since I was 16 and have finally decided that the best thing I can do for myself is stop putting any sort of drug into my body. I want to be healthy naturally which will last longer (I put the 30 pounds back on within a month of stopping taking it). I feel so much more refreshed when I am doing this naturally.

I've tried it, and sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. You still have to do the old-fashioned work of watching what you eat and exercising though, otherwise mindless snacking will still get you. Mostly I don't bother with it though.

I went to www.hoodia-advice.org and they have a lote of info on there.
they say you have to be really carefull with buying hoodia, to make sure you get 100% hoodia and no other ingredients, that for it to work it has to be pure hoodia Gordonii from governmeat sanctioed farms in the Kalahari deaert.

    * use only the heart of the hoodia gordonii plant

    * do not mix hoodia with other active ingredients.

And the site recomended the best they cold find wich was Power~slim by Hoodia producks
it cost like 59 dollers a bottle for 60 caps that last one month.

I just want to be sure, befor I buy somthing that it is what it says it is.

I have a hard time with things like this, my first instinct is to shout "WHY EVEN TRY THIS? IF THERE IS THE SLIGHTEST QUESTION, WHY?" And I have to talk myself down sometimes because I know that doing it the "old fashioned" way works better for some then others. I guess all I'm trying to say is, just be careful, even if the product itself isn't harmful, there is the temptation to follow the wrong path with things like this. If you do try it Mary, I really hope it works for you, but whichever way you decide, we will still be here to help and support.

Well said. I too want to yell "WHY WOULD YOU CONSIDER THIS?!" but if you choose to try Hoodia ask yourself, "do I really need a hunger suppressant? Can my eating be controlled without using Hoodia."

Also keep in mind that the tribesmen who used Hoodia didn't use it everyday, only to tide themselves over when absolutely needed. There is not enough research into long term side effects so while it is natural and safe, be wary.

If you choose to use Hoodia, make sure you eat enough calories. If you have a calorie deficiency, your metabolism will slow down and you'll burn calories slowly.

Just keep this in mind :)

OK, here's my thing on diet pills....
They help some, not all, but what happens when you stop taking them?
They do end up having side effects.
They don't teach you anything in the long run other thrn to buy more.
And, the commercials?? Have you seen these girls? They weren't that big anyway and only needed to slim down a few lbs.
Just be careful and always ask a doctor.....

If you're going to take anything, I reccomend green tea tablets. Here's a quote:

Studies have shown that green teas that contain both Cannatic Extract and Gymnemic Acid, reduce absorption of sugar into the blood, and lessen the craving for sweets. More importantly, green tea inhibits the action of amylase, a primary digestive enzyme of carbohydrates and therefore, moves food more quickly through the digestive system, raising the metabolism quicker, and burning more calories. Green tea is best consumed before a meal to aid digestion. Other advantages include links to cancer prevention and health benefits for people with diabetes.

All in all I don't really have a problem with anything natural, just don't overdo it or treat it like a crutch :)

I had just recently purchased a vitamin pack for diabetics and one of the pills in the assorted packs is a green tea tablet. pretty much says what you have said here.

If you like tea, even better than the tablets is plain green tea. Its relaxing to drink a cup a couple times a day and its MUCH cheaper than buying the extracts or tablets (you can normally get a box of 50 green tea bags for 2.00$). If you get regular green tea you should drink between 4-10 cups a day for the best benefit.
