Each scale works their own way

Just noticed this again today. I carefully packed a parcel of snacks for a snack exchange. I put a mixing bowl in the scale, tared, and put the parcel on top to make sure the whole parcel gets weighted. I was super careful not to go over 2kg including package, tape, and letter, and stopped packing at 1970gr. At the post office the scale told me that I'd only packed 1944gr. Argh, I could have packed a few more candies!
