37 Pounds Down ...Same Pants Size

So, I've been a little frustrated because I've gone down 37 pounds but my pants size hasn't changed. So, it's a little disheartening. I asked myself how that is possible while lamenting that I've worked so hard ( blah, blah, blah). Then it dawned on me. My pants were SO tight when I started that I had a gigantic muffintop, a button literally cutting a hole into my belly, and the inability to breathe when sitting. Hmmmm .. I think I see the answer. If I had been reasonable and gone up to the proper size I really belonged in at the time, I would have been a pants size higher. Therefore, since what I have on now fit correctly, no muffintop, not digging in, able to breathe means I did drop down a size. I went from the size I refused to buy down into what I now have on fitting correctly. That's a win. I am also not rushing down into the next size down. I am not having discomfort and a muffintop again. I will switch over when the next size is the correct size.
Although, on another note...I have lost noticeable weight in other areas.
Dreaming of a time when my boobs will stick out past my belly....

I was just going to say, you probably were wearing a size or two too small when you started! I know that’s what I’ve done in the past - just squeeze into those jeans until it’s literally impossible 😂

Are you taking progress pictures? If not I highly recommend it for really getting a visual on the changes that are happening!

It's so true, I've lost 10kg and I am still in the same size clothes. So gutted

Yup, the first time I lost weight, I was a size 14 for like 30 pounds, lol. It took FOREVER to get to a size 12, and then all of a sudden, 10s were too big. It does help that after 12, there's less of a "gap" (one inch) between sizes compared to above 12 (about two inches).

I hadn't realized that there was a larger gap between larger sizes than smaller sizes. That's good to know! Thanks!

It's pretty interesting. This is the standard sizing chart for the US nowadays:

From this article on vanity sizing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanity_sizing

Of course, it can vary from brand to brand but generally it's about the same.

RelCanonical Thanks! This makes it a lot easier to be patient. At least I know it will be a good while before the next size fits, even though this size now fits properly.

I've seen so many before and after pictures on here where people are wearing the same outfit. They lose amazing amounts of weight..but they were stuffed into their clothes in the before and now they fit perfectly into the same dress or pants. So..yes.. you most likely were wearing pants with some stretch in them and were two to four sizes too small..but they didn't bust open.
