    I thought it was funny, even more so as I saw girls like this at PF when I used to go, usually on their phones on fb just sitting on machines (cant ruin the make-up by exercising!)

    No, but being conceited and superficial, and talking nasty about others in the gym makes other people feel bad.

    Unfortunately many people automatically assume that all good looking, in-shape people are like that, and hence want to avoid them. PF exploit and perpetuate that (incorrect) belief.

    As with most stereotypes, it's born of a highly visible minority. I just joined my first 'real' gym, and everyone's been really nice. Down to the dude who was twice my size introducing himself and offering me a spot any time I needed it. Dude could've lifted me *and* my weights.
