The cheat meal

I know everyone has different opinions on this, so I was hoping a few of you would share...

I stick to a 1650-1680 calorie range per day. I make sure that my diet is balanced (lower on carbs and high on veggies/protein). I work out 6 days a week. I have 55lbs to lose.

My favorite meal is my fiance's home made pizza. I'm not going to lie...it super high calorie. I think I can work it in without being crazy over my range.

It's our Friday night tradition. Do I have to give it up???

You don't have to give it up, but you probably should approach the meal differently than you have in the past. Maybe only have 1 slice with a large salad on the side. Or make the pizza with less cheese and crust to save on calories.

You can cheat everyday and still hit your macros/micro nutrients and still lose weight. It comes down to calories in/out in the end.

Can he re-make the pizza to be less high in calories? Use skim milk cheese or maybe thin the crust? Use more veggies?

With pizza I will have 1 slice and then stop. I love love pizza but if I eat it, I try to think of it like eating a piece of steak or chicken. I don't usually want to eat 3 chicken breasts or 3 steaks, you know? I look at one slice as most (or sometimes all) of my meal. For the cheat meal, I do the 80/20 rule that Jillian Michaels recommends except I do 90/10. I eat properly 90% of the time and allow 10% of bad eating. I plan a cheat meal and eat 7-10 meals properly before and after. Also, after overdoing it, I'll drink lemon water and peach, ginger and lemon tea to help flush out the yuckiness. Going over 200-500 is usually my rule.

All of this is my "normal."

Don't give up your fiance's delicious home made pizza. Life is too short.

Maybe you can't fit it in for that day alone, but you could take calories away from the rest of the days of the week so that your weekly total is where it needs to be.

    In vs out.

For the love of pizza... no. Just no. :)

Hahaha...I have to agree! I like the idea of the 90/10 rule. That certainly makes it more doable!

Honestly, and it depends how many calories and if you can fit it in your daily goal. I had pizza the other day, two slices, total 630 calories, and I had 20 calories left or something... so it was fine. If it's not something you can fit in your goal, either have one slice (that would fit), or make it a monthly thing...

I don't particularly love pizza (I eat it about 4/5 times in a year), but an avarage pizza margherita has between 500 and 700 calories. The only reason why I would consider it a "cheat" is because usually my meals are richer in proteins and vitamins/minerals. :-)

I can fit pizza and beer into my 1200 cal diet, so why not? Just have a very light breakfast and lunch, or eat less the next day. You can eat whatever you want. Just eat less of it- one chocolate instead of six. One slice of pizza instead of three.

^ this, you do not have to deprive yourself to reach your goals, just take that little bit of time to do the math and you can fit in what you would like

Make your own pizza base using spelt flour n things? Eat less of it and have a huge side salad, you cant make pizza healthy, but you can definitely make it healthIER

I disagree. Pizza, by itself, is not inherently unhealthy. Homemade pizza using fresh ingredients (including sauce made from scratch), good cheese, lean meats, and fresh vegetables can definitely be a healthy part of a balanced diet.
