I did Bean Peak with my friend Mary this weekend. It's a short hike that follows a creek into a lovely meadow, then a fun scramble to the top. The views are spectacular, and there's just enough exposure to make it spicey. From the car to the summit and back was 6.5 miles and 2,800 feet of elevation gain.
We saw lupine, paintbrush, phlox, shooting stars, cow parsnip, and I don't even know what else. Sections of meadow were purple for 100 feet or more.
Mary leads the way to Bean's summit, on the left, with the Enchantment Range spread out to the right.
Summit pano.
Bean Creek Meadow from the ridge.
The trail ends (and starts again) in the meadow; almost there.
